Thanks, never even thought about toilet paper an glue for smoothing the surface! Great finish effect.

Great tutorial sir... So glad to see these instructional videos, where people use 'every-day' materials instead of the expensive after-market products that are out there... Thank you...

Very nice video. I've avoided water effects, because I was afraid they would look fake. I like your technique a lot. I've subbed your channel and will try catching up on your videos. Regards, Solomon

Your work is amazing !!! Almost all model/diorama makers use toilet paper now. Really economical and easy for those who can't afford resin or don't know how to work with resin. The materials you used are so readily available. It just requires imagination and an artistic mind like yours to put them all together.

Have you ever encased a submerged submarine in resin, I attempted to begin a project I have 350:1 scale Alula II model I’m about to begin but I was thinking of encasing it in water resin to give the effect of Periscope depth. Have you ever used it before any advice greatly appreciated. Love the effect looks amazing.

Thanks for the video. Excellent work. I'm just getting into modeling, and I figured I'd try doing a little sliver of Omaha beach as my first big project. I've never done water before, so this guide is perfect for modeling the waves coming onto the beach!

That cotton ended up being a lot more believable than I originally thought it would be.

Remarkable result, especially at the stern, where the water is churned into eddies very convincingly.

Looks amazing. I'm going to try this technique for a build I'm currently doing. One question I have is after you sculpted the polyfiller, what did you do to fill the gaps under the boat towards the front? Looks like there is a gap around the boat when you started painting, but it seemed filled in later on.
@44eyecandi6 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, I filled it with clear silicon sealant, then just highlighted with white paint. Best to use oil paint on the silicon as acrylics tend to bead! Never thought to include that on the video!

Very very good effects. I was wondering about the loo roll. Is it to smooth out the surface ? Also would I get away with a matte lacquer instead of gloss ? As the model looks a little too shiny.
@44eyecandi6 жыл бұрын
Yes, toilet roll is best to use as while it is wet you can push it around with a stiff brush to 'sculpt' the waves. And, like you say, it smooths it out as well. I did the sub with gloss coat because it is surfacing so would be wet all over! I've since done another one where it is diving, so left that matt finish on the sub.

Love it thanks to share it, wonderful aspects of sea that is difficult to create from a real sailor for stupid people "la critique est facile l'art est difficile"

You did a superb job with your diorama and your video presentation. Your sea colors and dry brushing while expertly done here, look approachable and not beyond my capabilities. I like that you took risks with the cotton as sea foam. It's obvious that you studied many actual photos in detail to have a vision for the sea. It is nearly impossible to produce realistic seas in a diorama and yours is the best "action" sea scene I've come across. Thanks for a great video and now I'm inspired to give a small sea diorama a try!

Thanks very much for taking the time to comment. It was a first attempt at using the cotton wool, think I've refined the method a bit better now! Yes, deffo, give it a go, would like to see the results! Don't know if you can post pics on comments here?

I'll attempt a video of the build and post it. I'll let you know here when it's done. I know I'll be watching this over and over so know my way back! Cheers!

Might have been converted to HD, but this was shot in 360. The pixels hit me like stones. Household matte emulsion? What the hell is that? Matte Medium with blue and black in it? Acrylic? Tempra? What are you calling matte emulsion?

@Bill OMG...the stupidest comment in the world .... maybe he is not able to do it, but this does not prevent him from having taste to be able to judge what is or is not good... Beyond this This diorama is great, but objectively that cotton has ruined everything. Water is one of the hardest things to do without using resins
