Fascinating. Amazing how much it takes to keep a pool/waterpark clean. Suggestion, though i know nothing: It seems to me that with a little judicious planning, pipework and valves, one could use the chemloop pumps (or other pumps) to stop the system taking on air when shut down.

31:31 I am surprised that you don't have more or any that I saw, sticky label arrows on the pipes for flow directions and/or pipe purpose. I know that once you are an old hat at things its easy and second nature, but for newbies or other less technical people it would be nice to have. Back when I was doing industrial controls in car plants, factories and super tankers, just about all facilities we would go into would have the big sticker wraps around all the piping to tell what was in them and normal direction of flow that you can see and read from standing location. Most would have a laminated cheat sheet of all the valves and piping that were all labeled as well. Each valve would have number with size and function. All the PLC display screens would then have labels as well with valve numbers etc. The larger the facility, the easier it made things just to remember all the exact piping and valve arrangements. Just helps that one day when your a little tired, or just having a bit of old person syndrome. Also one of those things if the guy that knew it all, got hit by a bus tomorrow, things could still function ok. (Just a figure of speech people, no people were harmed in this example! 🤦‍♂) Keep up the good work sir, brings back a lot of memories from those days, thanks for the walk-a-rounds from North Texas! 👍🤠

Just out of curiosity. Couldn't you install some flexible braided line or any type of flexible line for that matter to the discharge ends of your air purge valves and just hang that down low with a second valve at the end. Then you could just walk around and open those hanging purge valves instead of walking around with the stick?

that loop of pipe that comes up from the outlet of the pump, do you open that air vent valve on top when the system is turned off? if you let air in there, that should break the siphon, draining the filter back into the surge pit. may need to do the same on the outlet of the filter too, break the siphon.
@hanssenjones
@hanssenjones Жыл бұрын
@ThePoolGuy ....Why not run some pex or sch 80 pipe from those ball valves (that you use to purge the air) over and dump into pool so you dont get the area wet when you purge the air out? If you dont want to get chemicals in the pool when you purge the lines, a hub drain with some lines ran up there would help so the water can run into there instead on your head or on that GFI wall outlet that is close by.

I now know why my waterpark doesn't do weekend only ops, too mush hassle to start up and shut down just to run/open for 2-3 days. Ours has three houses after they had to build a new one when the system overloaded and the river motivators failed after a new water coaster was installed, executive fault for not listening to chief engineer (your position title in that franchise).

Oh fun on pumps... We ran a waterpark for years.. Seasonal shutdown and restarts are always a can of worms.. We had three 36,000 GPM pumps (run off big natural gas Cats) and a 28,000 GPM filter pump.. (1.5MG pool) .. Control systems seemed more a headache for us.. Nice setup there..

Automatic bleed valve. The kind that uses a float inside to open the valve when air is at the top (causing the float to drop and open the valve). Also surprised that they don't have this given it's a clean water system.
@thepoolguy
@thepoolguy Жыл бұрын
I've answered this a couple times, but you must remember the filter media will pass through this as well. In previous installs, it has caused the auto bleader to clog and 1. Keep leaking water, or 2. Not work to pass air.
@ShimrraJamaane
@ShimrraJamaane Жыл бұрын
@@thepoolguy Thanks for the clarification. What is ultimately capturing the filter media downstream of that bleed valve?
@thepoolguy
@thepoolguy Жыл бұрын
@@ShimrraJamaane so keep in mind that the filter must, "pre coat" the media before the filter can begin sending water to the pool. During this precoat, that's when the media is in suspension and causes those issues with auto bleeders.

If I was a betting man I would say that check valve is bad that's why that valve on the in coming was shut and it's harder to prime. All that air is also bad for the pump and the seal and it's impeller. no pump does good with air and there needs to be some were to drain all that air off it would help the life of the pump out a lot and it's life span. I only no this because IV been doing pump work for over 20 years and I specialize in booster pump and submersible pumps. P.s no pump is made to get rid of air really well it ends up distroying the pump end on the inside open it up and I bet it's has cut pockets in the casting and impeller. It will be only a matter of time before its no good it should not take that long to displace any air in the line even if sitting for a year. 👍👌✌️💯💧🥂
