💥 Excellent video, very thoroughly done. Thanks for explaining this situation. I've got a similar looking regulator by Valterra from Amazon and thanks to you can actually operate it properly just now. Those tips are definitely well said too! My Valterra didn't come with that nice case though, which is very thoughtful of your brand. Good tools should come with a good case. I do my screw pressure adjustment before I attach the hose to the RV. I put a shut valve at the end of the hose end that attaches to the RV, so I don't have to walk back and forth in and out of the RV. My thought is maybe it's not a bad idea to shut the campground main water supply to the RV off even when turning in for the night. 🤔 But if not, at least people are there and wake up occasionally and often need to use the bathroom anyway😂 Just wish more tool cases came in brighter highly visible colors. So many tools of my tools are all dark colors and difficult to spot. Happy and safe RVing. 👍

I agree on the case color. I would love to see them different colors too.
@Hundert1
@Hundert1 3 жыл бұрын
@@HowToRV Yep, color options always are appreciated. I guess you don't like my idea of capping the hose end and making regulator screw adjustments before attaching hose to the RV, right? I think it's interesting that the gpm flow is the same regardless of the pressure we set the regulator at. Hope I got that right. Thanks
@HowToRV
@HowToRV 3 жыл бұрын
@@Hundert1 I think that is a great idea as well. I set mine at home and it usually holds the whole time I’m out. I set mine around 35 to 40 that way I do not get close to max on my camper and I can watch for any kind of fluctuations. Your idea is perfect and I am thinking about doing a shut off valve like that.

Thank you. I just received one & this is pretty elementary. I now know how to use it! Was gone for 3 mths. Came back, turned my water on & it forcefully surged my toilet, which then left a valve open & flooded the bathroom! Long story short, I bought a valve like this for preventative reasons!

The regulator is a must have. I also like the fact that I can see what the actual pressure is. I have been to campgrounds where there was no pressure and thought it might be my RV and with the gauge, saw that it was not an issue on my end

We bought the same pressure regulator about 4 months ago. It's already saved us from water damage. We first used it at a campground that regulates their pressure at 40 psi. Figured that out when I was unable to adjust the pressure above 40 psi. The next campground was a different story. While doing the normal setup, I installed the pressure regulator on the water facet, connected the hose to our trailer, turned on the water and went back to setting up while my wife ran the air out of the lines. After setup I did a visual inspection and found a slight drip underneath where the low point drains come out from underneath the bathroom sink. Went to turn the water off and saw that the water pressure was at 60 psi. Not good. Adjusted it down to 40 psi and the drip stopped. Pulled the panel under the sink and saw that I caught it before any damage. The fittings just could not handle 60 psi.

So I’ve seen some comments on pressure regulators that say that if the water is not running in the camper the pressure will equalize through out the system. Is there a regulator that stops the pressure while the water is not flowing?
@HowToRV
@HowToRV 2 жыл бұрын
Not that I am aware of. There are what is call back flow preventers but that releases pressure if the water supply is turned off. I recommend to keep your system at the manufacturers recommended pressure (usually no more than 40 psi) and if you have to leave or not around to keep an eye on things, to turn off the water heater and water supply. Hope this helps.

I would guess that, if I have adjusted it outside the factory settings, I have to reset it to less than 50. Is it not the pressure of the water while on that we must read? Or, is it the same with the water off? I'm seeing less pressure in my shower, but it's closer to the city connection. I'll try to reset tomorrow with my wife inside controlling the water. But, my main question is, running or not inside while adjusting? Thx
@HowToRV

Should adjust then turn water on and off again. You will want to see the actual pressure with water not running in your RV. Turning water faucet on and back off will reset and show true value. Hope this helps.

My water pressure fluctuates between 30-40 with this new regulator? After changing out the check value that was an issue too? Adjust regulator every time? Or other ideas as to why this fluctuation? Ty
@HowToRV
@HowToRV 4 ай бұрын
Is it fluctuating with no water running? If so, it could be the park. If you have something that is running periodically, that can be a cause. If all else fails, send it back and get another. I must say though, I have never seen one fail because of fluctuating. Also, if you are talking about when you move from campsite to campsite, that’s not unusual.

@HowToRV
@HowToRV Жыл бұрын
Turn the water on and faucet running too. Dial the pressure to around 5 or 10. Then turn the faucets and anything else running water off. Go back and turn up the pressure very slowly until you get your desired pressure. Also, the close you get to your desired pressure the slower you should adjust so that you do not go over your mark. If you do, then you can repeat this process.

Hi, I use your water regulator, however, there are 2 pressure ratings...flow pressure and static pressure. Which should I be regulating. If with faucets are open - I set the pressure to 60 PSI..when the faucet/values are closed (static) the pressure rises to 80 PSI. Am I over pressured?
@HowToRV
@HowToRV 3 жыл бұрын
If your gauge is like mine then you would see a red mark that you should not go above. When using the pressure gauge, you should not have anything running and set to to around 40 psi. This will ensure that your plumbing will not get damaged. It is normal to see pressure drops as you turn water on in your RV. Hope this helps.

Why does the gauge have a blue line for the range of pressure up to 60 psi?

The blue line starts at 45 and goes to 60. I keep mine at the 45 psi. Some folks say that their RV can handle 60 psi but I do not line to push that far. 45 psi does everything that i need and I feel better knowing that I am not pushing it to the max. Hope this helps

I know RV’s are poorly assembled but so was my last house. My last house plumbing was pex plumbing with crimp fittings and Shark bite fittings with high pressure city water and never had a leak. My rv has crimp fittings that look properly installed so why the need for pressure reducer?
@HowToRV
@HowToRV 11 ай бұрын
For most, water pressure in residential homes are between 40 and 60 psi. I have been to a lot RV parks where the water pressure is above 100 psi. This is why it is important to have a regulator. As you said, PEX can handle residential pressures and to keep your RV around the same pressure, you would need a regulator for those RV sites that are to high. Some RV campgrounds have higher pressure because of how many are using there water at the same time. Even if the campground pressure is low when you get there, the usage at that time from other may be high. When useage slows down, pressure can go up. To make sure that you keep your RV safe and healthy, istall a water pressure regulator and you will never have to worry if there couldbe any damages or leaks. I hope this explaination helps. Happy camping and God Bless.

You're a bit off on the water flow / speed bit. What you were getting at is flow. You want to adjust psi but keep maximum flow. Flow is the volume of water, psi is more closely related to the "speed" or pressure that volume is at.
@HowToRV
@HowToRV 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the review/comment. I went back through the video and noticed where I relate flow to what the campground/park is capable of producing. This was to show the this regulator restricts very little flow. As to PSI or pounds per square inch or speed, I am missing where I referenced incorrectly. Can you point to where in the video is wrong?
@Dougy_Fresh
@Dougy_Fresh 2 жыл бұрын
@@HowToRV you weren't necessarily wrong, just the terms could be more beneficial to people. That is all. You mentioned that the regulator doesn't restrict "speed" like the non adjuaables do, flow would be a more accurate term. As in gallons per minute / gpm versus psi.
@HowToRV
@HowToRV 2 жыл бұрын
I watched a second time and I think I know the point where your talking about. Flow or also known as flow rate is the speed at which water will travel. PSI or pounds per square inch is the strength behind the flow rate. I think that you are talking about velocity. Water velocity is a measure of the speed of water flowing through a closed pipe system. Water velocity can be determined using a simple formula: V = Q/A Where, V = velocity Q = Flow rate A = cross-sectional area of pipe
@HowToRV
@HowToRV 2 жыл бұрын
@@Dougy_Fresh ok. I see where your coming from. People can more relate to gallons per minute or how much water is consumed over time rather than confusing them with flows, velocities and pressures.
