KZfaq Video Index - A list of all of my videos:poolmandave.blogspot.com/2014/...
This is the Pool Blaster Pro 1500 which is Water Techs most powerful cleaner. This thing has great suction and can be used in a pool route or just as a powerful tool for a homeowner.
I like this cleaner as it works well. Let me give you a rundown on the good points and some minor drawbacks. As you can see from the video it picks up debris on the bottom very well. The suction is good on this thing for sure. It saves me a lot of time and back break - I just bring this back to a pool and drop it in. It picks up leaves and dirt no problem, the battery life is great and it is easy to push along the pool bottom.
Some minor drawbacks are - it can't clean shallow steps so those will have to be brushed down or you can use the Catfish or Pool Blaster MAX ;). The debris bag while good will get filled up on a larger pool or pools with lots of debris. Simply pull the Pro 1500 out and empty it. Not a real hassle. I guess my only real concern is that this thing is all plastic. You don't want to drop it. I am going to suggest to the manufacturer that they add an aluminum plate type frame to the bottom and the handle to beef up the unit. The battery cap is not a major concern as long as it is properly lubed up. The water seal is fine. No issues there.
I've been using it for over two weeks now and have vacuumed a lot of pools. Basically, whatever will clog your regular vacuum will clog this. So running over a pile of leaves is not a good idea. It has the same opening size as your regular pool hose that you connect to the skimmer.
You can pretty much vacuum at the same speed you would if you were hooked up to the pool skimmer. That is one thing I like about it, you don't need to crawl across the pool floor.
The standard bag that comes with the unit is extremely good a picking up dirt and particle debris. The capacity is not enormous but sufficient.
I like the Pool Blaster Pro 1500 even with the drawbacks listed. The benefits of this thing so far out weigh any of it's shortcomings. A solid product.

Water Tech® Pool Blaster PRO 1500 - Review and Field Testing: This is more or less made for a pool route but can be used by a homeowner as well. The price is a bit hefty but you are getting a powerful battery powered vacuum. Does it work? Yes. But it can be improved. It is all plastic so don't drop this thing please. It would be nice if the bottom and handle had aluminium plating. It also is too large to vacuum the step areas in some pools. The back battery seal needs a lot of silicone lube to keep it water tight - it is under water for a long period of time so that is a factor. I like it and use it on my route. If your looking for a good portable vacuum this is it.

Thanks for the info I'm trying to choose between pool blaster pro 1500 or pool blaster CG. I think the 1500 overall will be better buy even though it's a lot more expensive, but is a better buy in the long run. Did you unit come with a car charger as well? I saw a picture at SCP that it includes a car charger now

Have you used The Water Tech Pool Blaster Max HD? If so, what makes it better than the Pool Blaster Max CG, and people have reported the Pool Blaster Max series is flawed with the battery getting wet and sometimes the seal was not even water proof, is this due to incompetence on the buyers behalf, or the products being faulty? I have a above ground pool about 15k gallons and I am getting a vacuum to clean the pool as well so I can patch the bottom as there is a hole in the liner and I cannot afford to buy a whole new liner with installation.

I use the Max CG more with the sand silt bag at the moment. I also have a Max HD unit that I like - it is very powerful. Too be honest the price of this unit is still on the high side... I like that you can use it with a standard vacuum but the Max CG and Max HD work well also - they just don't pick up larger leaf debris as well. What is your primary use going to be?

Just curious if this performs as well as the vac daddy. I'm not personally in the market one of these right now just curious and learning. our suction side cleaner is plenty strong sometime too strong because it will suck down onto the floor if I push the pole out too far and collapse the hose. It's a learning process. It might be time for a new head idk it's a stinger triangle weighted vacuum head for vinyl pool that we got 4 years ago.

I’m thinking of purchasing the water tech 1500. I service around 20 accounts a day. Suction is a big concern for me and it is a must to have. How much suction does the 1500 have? Thanks for the feedback
@SPL
@SPL 9 жыл бұрын
I think it has very good suction. If you submerge it and stick your finger in the vacuum you will feel the cleaner pull your finger in. I've already spoken with three people inside Water Tech about some improvements for the Pro 1500. I noted that it is all plastic so dropping it could be bad. Some aluminium plating would be nice. Also, I noticed as the multi-layer debris bag starts to get old - it stretches fractionally and is pulled into the quarter size impeller area reducing suction. A simple fix is to clip the bottom of the bag from the inside and problem solved. Water Tech R&D will hopefully take my advice and make the bag an inch or so smaller. The other two debris bags are very good. Micro Filter bag picks up algae no problem. For me it is a time saver since I have many pools with automatic cleaners and only need to vacuum maybe 4-6 a day (I currently am down to 102 pools a week from my high of 126 pools - just too many). Most of my pools don't have a lot of large debris on the bottom, just dirt and small debris. Basically, running into a pile of leaves will clog the vacuum head opening - just like a regular vacuum hooked up to the skimmer. I usually will vacuum around the leaves and net them out after as a habit. Been using the Battery powered leaf vac in pools with lots of leaves so that is a good product also. For me it is a time saver as I don't need to set up my 50 ft hose nor take it out after. On occasion I will need to stop and empty the debris bag - takes about 1 minute. Most cases I can vacuum the whole pool without stopping. Doesn't do the first step as it needs to be submerged and if you lift it and air gets in dirt will shoot out. So when I am going from pool to spa I will take it out. Turn it off, drain it, then reinsert into spa and start it up. The strap can come unhooked if you are not careful so make sure it is clipped on good. The motor is pretty powerful so I like to turn it "on" and "off" while it is partially submerged so as not to burn out the motor. Water Tech says it can burn out if left "on" outside of the water as it will overheat. One year warranty will cover that and it is an easy repair. I like using it with the Pentair Pro Vac Head as it vacuums much cleaner - the 20" vac head is a little large and floppy for my taste. You do need to go a bit slower when vacuuming - nothing dramatic. All in all it is faster then vacuuming with a hose in the skimmer. You are also saving the filter from dirt so that is a bonus. I like it and don't even carry my vacuum hose on my truck. Maybe get it from a seller who allows returns if you don't like it just in case. SCP should carry it and the guys are usually good about taking products back if you are on good terms with them. I've known the guys at my branch for over 10 years so I am always returning stuff without issue.

Hi David. I am looking for a good vacuum for home use only. I have a fiberglass pool (16 x 40). I use a Pentair Kreepy Krauly that I use once a week. I like keeping my pool clean. I don't mind spending the money for an additional vacuum that will take much less time than waiting for the Pentair finish. What would you recommend? I know some of these are probably overkill for home use(Pool Blaster CM GI, Pool Blaster 900 or 1500, the Riptide XP, the PowerVac PV2100). Or is there another one you would recommend.? Must be safe for Fiberglass. Thanks in advance.

I would try the Water Tech Volt FX8li and purchase a sand/silt bag if needed for the finer dirt. To me this is the perfect size battery vacuum for spot cleaning a pool in your case. It has about 1/2 the power of the Pro 1500 and more power than the smaller vacuums you listed. If you really wanted to go all out - Bottom Feeder Vacuum with a 57 micron bag.

@@SPL The bottom feeder looks very impressive. I had never heard of it before you mentioned it. Although, I don't think I want to spend that much right now. For my fiberglass pool, which of these would you recommend (WaterTech Pro 900 or a different Watertech Vacuum(Pro1500,Precion 2.0, FX8, etc.), Riptide XP or the PV2100)? I like the portability of the Pro 900 (or something similar) but I am very concerned that for the price, it would not be a great investment and the Riptide and PV2100 would last much longer but are obviously larger). What do you think?

I own the Pro 1500, and I hate it because the suction is very low. Today, I found out for sure how low the suction pressure is compared to a Volt Leaf Vac - which did the job perfectly well. I paid $850 for the Pool Blaster 1500 and $115 for the Volt Leaf Vac, which is superior to the Pool Blaster 1500. I wanted to buy another motor for the Pool Blaster 1500 when it was under warranty, but they wouldn't sell me one! I wonder why? I'd throw the thing away, but I'm considering buying a stronger motor separately to power it properly, though it also has a very small leaf bag.

How many pools have you done on average with one charge? Do you like using this only on your route?
@SPL
@SPL 10 жыл бұрын
Some days I do up to five pools on one charge. I have yet to run out of battery power and carry the fully charge spare in my truck. I tried it Friday with my Pentair Pro Vac 14" and it worked even better. The Vac head it comes with is good but the bottom is not sealed well - not a bad vac head but the Pentair one is of course better. So far in almost three weeks of testing I have vacuumed over 30+ pools. I've found that whatever clogs your vac hooked up to the skimmer will clog this one also. The suction is actually pretty awesome - I stuck my hand in there and if feels similar to the suction of a vac with 50 ft of hose hooked up to a skimmer. But the opening is the same size so a pile of leaves will get stuck n the vac head. Typical of any vac used. I make sure the seal is extremely lubed up in the battery area - this is the only place water can get in and ruin the unit. I also drain it well after every use to prevent water settling in the motor. So far so good. Last, I am not to happy that this thing is all plastic. I am going to suggest to Water Tech that they add a plated handle cover and maybe an aluminium plate to the bottom. It feels like if this thing is dropped from any distance it will break. But with that said the plastic body is well constructed and if never dropped I don't see this thing breaking at all. It is light and easy to carry back. Plus the parts are replaceable. I added some Gorilla Tape to the bottom to prevent scratching when I set it down on pool decks. When I run into a pool with lots of leaves of default to the Battery Powered Leaf Vac - a great tool to carry also. I will update this review as I am using the Pro 1500 exclusively now on my route and have removed my pool cart and vac hose - oh, it does have trouble with steps as it needs to be under water at all times. Not a major drawback but a drawback.

The MaxHD is a good unit. If anything I would go for the Volt FX-8Li as it has a new charging area that is completely sealed and a 2 yr warranty. Plus more power. I think WaterTech is redoing this particular vacuum for a new upgraded version. It is good but bulky compared to the smaller units like the HD. So no, I wouldn't.

@SPL
@SPL 9 жыл бұрын
Markdiego14 Still working fine for me. I left it on in my truck on accident about two weeks after I filmed it and burned the motor out- oops. WaterTech sent me a new motor and it was easy to install. No issues since. The motor is made to run underwater only and briefly before submerging or it gets too hot. The debris bag wears out after a couple of weeks - so I just clip the inside bottome end with a Heavy-Duty Binder Clip and it works fine. I think the overall design of the bag needs to be reworked to leave more space for the impeller. As the bag wears out it stretches so it needs to be clipped off to let the impeller pull in water. Not a major issue but if they made the bag 1 in shorter it probably would work better. I am on my third debris bag and I use the other two that come with it but I prefer the Multi-layer bag - although like I said it wears out. All in all a great time saver for those small to medium pools and the ones that are a marathon walk from my truck. I would say I use it about 2 pools a day on average with most of my pools having an automatic cleaner in it. For those pools that are really dirty I use my standard vac and hose. I like it - if it was more affordable I think more pool guys would use it for the shear convenience factor. It does come with a one year warranty if you have any issues with it and WaterTech seems very easy going.

Lol I had to drain the water as there was so much debris in the water I needed to rake it out with my plastic rake. But it seems I have to yet again do the same process. I am sorry yours exploded, those lithium batteries are very dangerous. I always made sure to be under the 5 hour mark when charging, so I would charge it for 4 hours and unplug it. Then I would let it sit for 10 minutes and proceed to add the silicone lubricant to seal the battery. I would always add a new layer of lubricant to the battery twist top every time I use the machine. And was always very generous on the amount I used to make sure all crevices were sealed good.
