Watercolor Christmas Cards - Watercolor Beginner Tries Trees for Christmas!!

I am a complete beginner at watercolor painting, and I have been following tutorials for inspiration (for two days so far). I try two watercolor Christmas cards in this video and talk about the things I am learning. The watercolor tutorials I used as inspiration are linked below.

I got the inspiration for the triangle gradient card from @jenaranyi on instagram
The misty pine tree card that I try was inspired by the work of Nadja Yabrova (check her out on pinterest!)
And last, but certainly not least, I recently found THE CRAFSMAN and adore his videos. He documents his creative process in such a lovely, peaceful manner. / @thecrafsman

When doing watercolors, one usually starts with the waterery background first. Then for example, you would do the most distant trees since they will always be lighter in color. As you paint trees closer to the foreground, the colors become more intense, with the ones in front being the deepest shades. Since colors become deeper as you move toward the foreground, you're able to paint over top of the background colors or more distant (lighter) trees.

Never did watercolors but until I use up all my paints then I might get into that. I'm sorry for all your trouble times. Omg I would say you've had some rough times. My prayers are with you to be better. I have only watched two of your videos. I am hooked. Thank you

Thanks Joseph. It was the last thing I was expecting to see and the anxiety for the week it was happening was intense. It was about 2 oz each 24 hours... about a shot glass at a time. The pulmonologist said I didn't need to go back to ER unless it was SIX shot glasses in 24 hours. That is crazy... no way would I have been waiting that long. I do want to know what the hell is happening in there though!! Followup appointment is Tuesday! Thank you so much for all the support you have given me the past couple of years (WOW!!).

Jenny Post just take care of your self and hope your mother is feeling better. My 89 year old grandpa is probably my best friend after my wife lol 😂 and I worry for him often

You are amazing! I love your pouring videos and the colors you put together. I have always wanted to learn how to do watercolor painting and now you have opened my eyes to this. You make it look so easy but I know I will have more difficulty. LOL! Please keep both the acrylic pouring and watercolor videos coming. I enjoy the way you voice is so calming and your instructions are so detailed. Thank you for all you do to help us learn and enjoy! Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Thank you so much for the kind words Linda!! It is so rewarding to know I might be inspiring folks to do art! You have to try it!! It is fun and I swear it is easy! If I can do it, I strongly believe that anyone can! I will definitely keep doing the pouring videos. I have often wished I started publishing videos at the beginning of that amazing journey, but I started about 5 or 6 months in after I was getting it down. I am super excited to share this new journey from the beginning!

@@JennyPost Well you got me so excited to try this I ran out this evening and bought some paints, brushes, paper and a tray for mixing. I am going to start binge watching more beginner videos tonight. One question I have is what size was the brush you used for the trees? I guess I missed that.
