In this video I'll be comparing 3 brands of watercolour paint and seeing how they vary in colour and texture. I hope that it will be useful if you're thinking of adding a Payne's Grey to your own watercolor palette - perhaps you'll find the perfect one here?
To test the Paynes Greys, I'll be swatching in a very simple botanical style. This is a great exercise if you're a beginner who would like to practice brush control and get used to the feel of watercolours or if you just want to warm up before you start working.
And at the very end of the video I will show you what beautiful landscapes you can paint with just one paint - Payne's Grey watercolor.

Payne's Grey - Roman Szmal
Payne's Grey - Rembrandt

Such a beautiful monochrome seascape. I love seascapes but find painting water challenging. I'll try to use your video to practise. Thank you. Payne's grey is a great colour!

A really beautiful finished piece. I've never used Paul Reubens paint before. I will definitely order this colour though. Just stunning. You can really see that PB29 separation. Sometimes you need this in a Paynes Grey, sometimes not but it's wonderful to think that you could have a pre-mix like this on hand. I love the QoR paints recently. I'm a portrait artist and the binder they use makes all the pigments really "pop". Other than that, my paints are wide and varied but mostly DS, W&N, QoR, A Gallo, Schmincke. Thank you for introducing me to this "must have" colour. All the best from Australia 😊

Thank you my friend. I have very little DS, Roman Szmal, Rosa, W&N , Rambrandt , Schmincke.and others......But I'm just an art maniac)))) Shminke Gold Series, I didn’t take it out of Ukraine at all, because the war is in my country. ( But QoR!!! Oh Gods, you reminded me of the colors that I have been dreaming of trying for so long. There is one sad thing about Paul Rubens, the fact is that I did not see the possibility of purchasing their Gray Payne separately (((It comes in a large set and this is sad. Of course, I can mix this color myself from ultramarine + burnt sienna, with my grinding , this mixture will weigh differently than a separate paint with the correct particle size reduction.
