Hi Nicola! I’m from Ukraine and when I was growing up in the early 2000s, there were 2 attitudes towards painting and drawing in my school: you either had a knack for it and therefore you were enrolled into extracurricular drawing school where you expanded on your talent with specialists or you were kinda meh at it which didn’t really influence your grade, but you didn’t get proper feedback in order to improve. This encouraged you to think that this activity wasn’t for you, if you weren’t perfect. So in that way, those several talented kids had a great opportunity to develop and some of them made drawing their career (which is amazing btw). While the mediocre ones had an impression that you just gotta have that talent in order to properly enjoy drawing and have a community supporting your improvements. I started to imitate some of the paintings on your channel randomly during the quarantine, just because the way you described the process felt confident in your decisions and full of joy. Now, are my paintings amazing in the way my talented schoolmates’ works were? No, I wouldn’t say so. But are they good enough and enjoyable to make? Absolutely yes. So thank you for posting these tutorials, they brought a different sort of joy into my life, a joy of “good enough” :)

I am 41 years old and have not picked up a paint brush since my 8th grade art class that made me break out in hives from stress (yes, really) because I never felt good enough. 5 days ago I decided on a whim to try watercolor.
