I almost never lay the meaning in the composition when I write music, I don’t try to express or tell something, I just look for that harmony or melody that I want to hear at the moment, and then I give the name by the first association or by the first one that catches my eye combination of words. And only after a few years, if the composition does not go to the trash and passes the test of time, it can suddenly acquire meaning. And recently, Waterfall has received its clear meaning. I am a big fan of surfing since I was a kid, but only as a spectator (I'm the "lucky one" who didn't even swim in a river and only had a few modest pool sessions as a teenager), but I'm probably fascinated by the waves more than the music, and I have never completely abandoned the idea that one day I will be in Hawaii or Australia or Portugal or Indonesia and devote a huge part of my life to surfing, and surfing not on small waves, but on the biggest ones, and even though this dream of mine is akin to ideas to fly into space, I can't give it up. At the same time, I understand that I am madly afraid of this, that I cannot do it, and that I madly want this. For me, the waves seem to contain the whole meaning of life, all my fears, and if I conquer these waves, then I will become free and find harmony. And having recently watched the 100 Foot Wave documentary series about conquering the biggest waves, it came to me with a clear realization that Waterfall has always been about all this, especially about that long-awaited moment when you are alone on a wave, in the middle of an endless ocean, and tons of water are constantly falling nearby.
