The Delhi dam in Iowa was a privately owned dam, homeowners refused to pay for repairs. One day it failed, they lost their lakefront property. They whined to the government, who refused to fix it. A very rare good call by Iowa government.

privately owned by who? If it is a corporation, why should the homeowners pay for repairs? I'm confused. Now crying to the government, that is hilarious. Because if it was privately owned, the government has nothing to do with any of it, and too bad so sad.

It does not. The parcel for the family in question does not extend out farther. However, some of the land that used to be under water is privately owned, which could result in insult added to injury if those landowners decided to build mere feet from folks who used to live on the water.
