The waterspout appeared dead ahead. Now down to two and a half knots, worried and panicking, we wondered what the chattering noise coming from our engine could be...

I LOVED those fish, had a conversation with them when we lifted the anchor and again once it set. They stayed at the stern till we anchored, then roamed the hull when we stopped. 😄 Liz

@@followtheboat That is the plan, I will have to wait till I get my boat. I took the ferry from Pagimana to Gorontollo around 2010 and met a french man who told me about them, sounded so nice.

I super enjoy watching you folks. Especially the Indonesia segments. I lived in Papua for four years, and in fact, I'm back in Indonesia for two weeks (I'm writing this from Jakarta - tomorrow I'll be over in Jayapura). Anyway, my wife and I have long talked about the cruising lifestyle and we love the idea of coming back here (to Indonesia) to explore the area by boat. While my wife was super gung-ho on a liveaboard lifestyle years ago, a job change and relocation three years ago, compounded by Covid, has left my wife feeling quite lonely. She's now less interested in the liveaboard idea now that she's experienced a lot of loneliness and she's not sure she wants to endure that for years at sea. How have you guys managed with that? How can my wife not feel so lonely when we're not able to build deeper relationships with folks we see on a more regular basis? Curious how you or some of your subscribers have managed this in the past.

I think the pandemic has made a lot of us re-appraise our re-priorities in life. We were not immune to that sense of loneliness and isolation either. Don't forget that the sailing bit and 'at sea' bit account for probably no more than 10% (maximum) of your time on a cruising boat. The rest is spent at anchor and exploring on land. You always meet other yachties and local people everywhere you drop the hook (unless you choose some immensely remote and unpopulated areas). We like a mixture of both. Is your wife more concerned about not having roots? This is the biggest change. Ultimately, you do need to like each other's company and be each other's best friend. Good luck! Liz

We never really got a clear resolution of our engine noise, but it did decrease massively after a haulout when I regreased everything around the prop especially one separator sleeve on the shaft. After that it went away and slowly came back but never to the same level and I wonder if I had insufficiently greased it two lift-outs ago. If that is it then it is audible inside the boat. Could it be the gearbox? It all seems to work fine and no rogue noises with the gearbox in neutral. I can understand why Jamie is going slowly mad.

Yes, at the time of recording I was getting more and more anxious. The frustration was thinking I had discovered the cause, only to find that that was the case.

Stunning scenery shame about the sh1t in the water and that vibration is concerning for sure, not the sort of thing that fixes itself, do you have dial gauge ? if not make a simple visual one with a stiff piece of wire to look for inbalance in shaft area, hope it is something easy to fix, you missed the Penny for the Guy and the lack of imagination in choices of fireworks here, lucky sods all the best Brian & Boo

@@followtheboat Good to know you will resolve that issue, as for the fireworks, it's just bangs now, after the first few hours you get bored of hearing it, but alas it goes for day's round here, possibly some confusion over when bonfire night is meant to be held, cost of living crisis and they're burning money SMH..
