Got it, if I missed the fish….it was that damned gland cap. Just got mine today, thanks for the heads up!

Not all Lamson fly reels have this issue. If it is something that happens often, then someone might be lubing their Lamson fly reel up when they tell you in the booklet to run it dry, but they will replace a glandcap and I am sure there is no need to send the whole reel in because they would just need to know the size of the reel to know what gland cap size to send.

I have had one for 3 years, it’s been on the salt flats in Florida and I’m Labrador Canada. Never had that happen , I checked it and it feels tight. But I will keep an eye on it for sure 🤙🏼

Nice! Appreciate the comment. Hopefully, it never happens to you... If it does you'll know exactly what to do.

My sons and my Lamson Liquid reels both popped off. Sent in to Lamson to be looked at and they put blue locktite on the threads of the gland cap and sent the reel back. So far so good but I check it frequently.

Interesting. I personally would avoid that solution to keep the flexibility of the reel. But I do get that and it should totally work for you. My guess is that applying Locktite would be a full proof solution for this issue.

@@anchorflyI wouldn’t be worried for a personal rod. I can see the concern a little bit if you’re flipping them back and forth quite a bit for guiding, but if you use the normal blue one, it’s not like you can’t break the threads again.

I have the remix, which uses the same spool as the Liquid. So, I am assuming that the gland cap mishap carries over to my reel as well. Thanks for the info! I haven't had it happen, but I will check it regularly from now on.

I've lost the drag knob off my Lamson Liquid 5+. Need a spare but don't know if there is a spring or washer at the back of the knob, which I'd also need. Can't find a diagram to show if there's anything at the back of the drag knob

Contact Lamson about that because their customer service is great, so they will make it right for you. They sent me a new handle at no charge when I contacted them about a reel that I bought that appeared to have a screw part on the handle that was not quite right, which they asked me for my address, then the part they sent came in pretty quick.

Hi, are you aware that Sierra Trading sells Luquids for $70? They also sell the 3 packs and Remix models as well.

That is a killer price, thanks for sharing!

I bought two Liquids and hate them. They have resistance when reeling in. If the drag is tightened, that issue gets slightly worse. They are junk. I gave them both away and still use my old Cabelas reel if you can believe that.

Just got this reel. Loctite on the gland cap?
@anchorfly7 ай бұрын
This is up to you but I wouldn't recommend it as it limits the versatility of the reel. All you need to do is pop the spool off from time to time and hand tighten the gland cap. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment. Be well!
@907akfshrmn6 ай бұрын
If you go that route, then make sure it is Loctite 425 because the regular stuff can damage the gland cap. But a lot of the reels will never have this problem because all of the Lamson fly reels that I have owned never had an issue of the gland cap working itself loose. As I mention on another reply, I suspect that some are lubing their Lamson fly reel up when they tell you in the booklet to run it dry. I have witnessed different issues that Lamson owners had because they oiled the reels up but used a lot of grease too.

So just hand tighten it

All fly reels are the same. Lol. You don't need drag.
