He approaches the topic from two angles, first discussing the mundane, but nevertheless obscure topic of the actual cost of occult books, a genre renowned for its seemingly (and sometimes actually) outrageous costs, and when and why such costs might be warranted, and how to know if you're being duped.
The other angle Denis proposes to approach is the less tangible value that is the ways books of these genres can impact one's life, and how (with a little discernment in what some might now call an over-saturated market) the earnest seeker can still find ways to enter and deeply explore the world of Magic thanks to written materials, and how such an approach might, itself, be of tremendous value compared to other existing methods of initiation and study. ‘The Path of the Reader’, so to speak!
