I’m the 2nd person in the US to have the repair of the scapholunate ligament, based on what my doctor stated. Over 20 years later, it’s still healing, but feels a whole lot better compared to what it was the first 5-10 years after repair.

Basically a scaphoid fracture is a small bone in your wrist that breaks when you fall and put your hand out (can break other ways, but this most common). Many people will go to get an X-ray which is negative because it can take up to 6 weeks to be able to present on X-ray. Treatment is a short arm cast (the ones that go from you hand to forearm) for 10-12 weeks, and Tylenol or Advil for pain. If it’s bad enough surgery may be needed. Hope that helps, new NP and found this video while studying.

@@Syst3m04 what are symptoms of bone fracture? Is it only painful when you use your hand or even at rest. I'm worried about what I'm feeling rn about my hand. I went to a clinic, but my doctor refuse to give me an xray test. I just want to be sure about it, and til now my hand hurts
@Syst3m04

@@user-td3sl7wj9v so it usually happens as a result of a fall. Pain below the thumb by the wrist. It is more painful when being used, but can be mildly painful at rest. Most common treatment is just a splint that holds your thumb still. If you are really worried you could try an urgent care, x-rays are usually pretty easy to get from someone.

*@Physiotutors* Three years ago I have had a scaphoid fracture (distal pole side) and some ligaments sprains provoked by a heavy fall, but my wrist whole heald after many months of plaster cast and plenty rehab (after 9 month I can back to the same gymnastics activity as I did until the injury). Unfortunately, two months ago I fallen on this wrist again, but RX was negative, even some pain was been present and then it got constantly better along the sequent couple of weeks, so I was not very worried about it to be honest (I use it very much, because the other one got a small radius epiphysis so it has plast cast). However, after the 3rd week the previous injured wrist started to be painful again (at anatomical snuff box level) and cracking quite louding during movements on both radial and ulnar sides (now, it wake me up during sleeping after just some random common involontary movent, at radial level in particular). The latter symptom happens when I just woken up than less during the day. Would mean this that scapholunate ligament is broken (or very loose at least)? Cannot RX show it after the second injury (on my incompetent humil opinion, I suppose that inflammation liquid may mesmerize images, quite "maintaining" scaphoid and lunate in position)? Otherwise, may be forearm and hand muscles reduction the cause of this symptoms (I have not performed any workout after the second injury, so muscles decreased inevitably). I hope my words can have sense. Thank you and greetings from Italy.

Just found out that the immense pain in my wrist is from a full-thickness TFCC tear as well as a full-thickness scapholunate ligament tear. I've been in so much for such a long time and was wondering why. Just seeing this test performed makes me extremely nervous about seeing my ortho next week.

I know about the surgery as well, but i would like to avoid it. Because nothing in this life is for sure. They can mess up your hand even more... So i am looking at different options and i see there are like a gazillion experts on carpal tunnel syndrom and like zero for carpal insability. I know it can get better without a surgery for a fact, because one manual therapist helped my condition by a lot.

@@Big_Old_Bondy Not yet. In the mean time i was also speaking with one manual therapist and he said that those things can't be fixed with just therapy. That it works to some extend like it did on me, but it will not fully heal with therapy alone. So i don't know, maybe i was wrong or he just sucks...

@@Physiotutors in my case, it hurts when I push on the palm while doing sun salutations. No fracture, but doctor says it could be ligament tear and only MRI will show (but not suggesting hospital visit due to Covid everywhere and my age--65). Will just wrist exercises (flexion, extension, ulnar-radial movement, supinatiob-pronatoln on both clenched and extended fingers 10 times each help? will du king hand in ice followed by warm water help?
