If anyone wants a good visual example to what's being said here, Google the amps then go to images, take a look at the Yamaha AS-201 v Yamaha AS-2200, the AS-201 is rated at 100wpc the AS-2200 rated 90wpc. The two filter caps on the AS-201 are 6800uf each, the AS-2200 has four 22000uf. caps. Weights are 6.7kg. 14.8lbs.for the 201, and 22.7kg. 50lbs. the 2200. Thanks for your knowledge.👍

We hook amps up to an amp dyno now, its called the SMD D'Amore Engineering AD-1. Mostly used for car audio so far, it measures "Certified" or up to 1% distortion, "uncertified" up to clipping and "dynamic" or maximum burst power. It can do it at different chosen frequencies and ohm loads. It is the new "standard" of how to measure what an amp can actually produce. No one cares what the manufactures claims are anymore, they just put it on the dyno! Not that you actually see these numbers in real use playing music. but the AD-1 makes for a level playing field when measuring power output. Alot of the new AV home amps measure at 1000khz and rate 100wpc, when it would probably be 40-60wpc if measured at 40hz.

To all you Top Audio Guys out there making content like this. Use a decent mic! Youd think the Audio recording would have a little effort put into it. The Irony is just funny. Im just pokin fun at ya, not being all serious or hating on you! :) - thanks for the video and cheers!

Our marketing budget is very low, and we can't afford a better studio nor mic to do video like this. We rather spend money on parts and good labor to build gears than spending time and money to doing this. However, without doing this, we couldn't get out point across not to mention complete with multi-millions marketing budget with other big companies. Our goal is as long as we get good enough sound to get the point across, we are ok with it. In fact, you were hearing the furnace noise in the background. 🙂

@@d3tach3d Having fun is all this is about. Keep the fun poking coming. We do try to make a better video all the time, but we don't want to spend too much time and money then get distracted from doing the real thing. Which is making high quality audio toys.

I remember some brands using PMPO instead of RMS to make that power number go big. PMPO is peak music power output, it's useful if you know what it's is telling you and especially useful if you have RMS figure as well.

Actually, there is not a more misleading measurement than PMPO. It is a marketing tool used to fool consumers. If we continue with the car analogy, WPC RMS measures the top speed of a car under ideal regular road conditions. It's not a great indicator, but its use is understandable given that it is very difficult to obtain a useable measurement of real music being played under a real load (ie. speaker), when both of those are operating under constantly changing conditions. But PMPO assumes that the car is always going downhill aided by gravity and a tail wind, and the engine is able to operate beyond its rated specifications indefinitely. So, not only not useful, but misleading.

May I add, PMPO is a total non-sense invented by marketing lying to the potential buyers in order for them to think an amplifier has way more power than it really has. Yes, I am saying marketing lie to general public.
