I would be better to give the bore a slight hone. A honing tool is great helps the rings bed in properly. There is always a sheen on the bore from the worn out rings that needs to be removed. Just offering with kindness and care. Check online to watch how to hone a bore. John

all you have to do is with the starter clutch is glue the magnent back onto its place with a high temperature glue in the in the cup reuse the old starter cup. u don't need a new one and new rings for the piston too you should hone the cylinder as well.

why did you replace piston was there damage i didn't see i would of saved money and spent on new head gasket instead although nothing wrong with using old one with right torque but piston i don't understand i didn't see anything wrong and wrist pin i don't think i have ever seen one that would need replaced without catastrophic failure

So u find scratches on the cylinder walls and u just replaced the piston and rings 🧐. What about the scratches? That can can cause the new rings to fall again and you’ll be back to the same smoking issue you started with. 😂
