I've had this for a couple weeks and barely scratched the surface on it. I haven't started doing much manually, just playing around with presets and things. It's super fun! The kind of stuff I do, I'm not worried about how natural it sounds, I'm trying to make interesting things. I understand that it has a robotic value and there is that artificial artifacts, but that's where we're at right now! You expect something to sound Super natural for $30? Plus, just like with most auto-tune you know jacket up to 100, you put some work into it and blend it in at twenty-five or fifty percent and you can get some good results with a reasonable expectation. All I know is I had a blast the other night where I had it set to have me sounded like a female jazz singer from the 30s. I said it before with these auto-tuning things, they're not perfect, but the more I use them the better I have become at singing. It's worked as a guiding tool.

I like your explanation on how you got it to midi to edit. I know this is new, so there will be more creative solutions. But, I can't figure out how to get the final parts recorded to a track so I'm finished with the harmony, so I can move on to my next abomination in the song.😎😊

Hey brother. Are you recording in the midi track or the original track? Just need some specifics about which mode you’re in to help :)
@bennydellinger9033
@bennydellinger9033 Жыл бұрын
@@BeauTylerMakesMusic Thanks for the response. I tried it both ways and followed Waves support suggestions, which I believe are the same things you're asking. I can make it work fine, just can't figure out a way to get it recorded to a track, so the harmony part is finalized to an audio track. I put it aside for the time being to finish up some projects, so I'm just getting back to the challenge again.🙃

This is awesome to decide the harmonies. Can you listen to each voice in solo? Than you can just overdub it and it dosen't sound like a autotune
@BeauTylerMakesMusic
@BeauTylerMakesMusic 2 жыл бұрын
I would think so! But in this mode it would be by just recording or playing one note at a time. For me, I think it would be great for experimenting outside of normal harmonies for more complex structures, then I'd use that guide and actually sing it. Where I'd use this mode is by creating pads or different backing instruments out of the voice, then converting it to audio from MIDI and then going crazy on those new pads with some experimental editing and mixing. The sky is really the limit with this one. :)

Can the harmonies be adjusted so they're not carbon copy perfect? So they sound natural.
@BeauTylerMakesMusic
@BeauTylerMakesMusic 2 жыл бұрын
You can fine tune them with the fine knob, but ultimately, if your original pitch were off, say 3% from "perfect", that's going to result in a more unnatural sound than if you were off only 1% from perfect. Those numbers are kind of arbitrary, but I hope it served the point. The better the original performance, the more natural the shifting for harmonic notes will sound.

For me what’s missing is the human breathing vocal sound, I am not a huge fan of vocal tuning, that everyone uses today, it’s boring to me overall. Not here to just be negative, I can hardly wait till they can truly fool me with harmony vocals, I do believe it will happen some day! Cool effect though it is....
@BeauTylerMakesMusic
@BeauTylerMakesMusic 2 жыл бұрын
I feel you. I was showing a very basic usage of the effect. I’m not sure I’d use it for tuning purposes, but more for turning vocals into playable instruments quickly :) ✌️❤️

@@BeauTylerMakesMusic awesome. Looking for nice clean harmonies like 70’s folk. not necessary the r&b, rap/hip hop ones.
@BeauTylerMakesMusic
@BeauTylerMakesMusic 2 жыл бұрын
@@craigvendramin6977 Absolutely. It really won't depend on genre. The only reason I chose this specific lo-fi style was because it was a vocal that had no doubling or harmonies already. I thought about using a rock track I did for a recent Native Instruments/Output video that posted directly to Native's channel, but I had already done A LOT of processing on those vocals. Whatever your cup of tea, this is an effective plug-in. I PROMISE :)

And whats the difference to izotopes nectar, ovox or the antares suite?
@BeauTylerMakesMusic
@BeauTylerMakesMusic Жыл бұрын
So sorry for the delayed response. I don’t know how I missed it but I hope this helps Ada very general overview based on my experience with the each. Each has their own strong suits but as I see it here are how I’d decide. For price - go with Waves. However, what it does it much more focused. I wouldn’t use this necessarily as a vocal pitch corrector but have found it far more useful for turning vocals into playable instruments (similar to auto tune slice). The most full package would be the suite from Antares. I’ve owned it and cancelled it twice though because I just don’t know how to justify the monthly price, which in my opinion is absurd for any non-full time producer. The best, in my opinion is probably Nectar as a full solution because the AI is so strong. As for Ovox, I’m just recently getting into it so I don’t want to speak beyond my depth on that one. All-in-all, it just depends on how many tools you need and how much you want to spend. Very honestly, there’s very little to lose when getting this one from waves though, since it’s so inexpensive. Hope that helps :)

@BeauTylerMakesMusic

That might depend on how you insert the plug-in. There a few different ways such as midi mode. For sidechsining you’ll need to insert it on a separate track. Are you inserting it on the same channel as the instrument/voice or are you putting it onto a separate a channel?

To much of the robo sound.... In addition,, real backup singers dont start and stop each phrase at exactly the same time and there variation that need to added. There are ways to make this more realistic than to use block chords in a choppy way.
@BeauTylerMakesMusic
@BeauTylerMakesMusic Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I was demoing the way I use it as a chord function though. One of the reasons it sounds so robotic is that I pulled a random example from the track that was super auto tuned. I wouldn’t use it as a primary pitch plug-in, which I mentioned. I was just showing how I personally utilize the plug-in :)
