Last time I was there was 2017. It went from like two floors to one floor since the time before that.

Loved both malls growing up. So many memories. Those were the hang out spot's in my early childhood into my adolescent yrs...

I remember in 84, I was in high school (Green Run HS) and my mom dropped me off at Lynnhaven mall on a Friday night. I left and walked across the street to a neighborhood where my boyfriend lived. A guy started following me through the neighborhood getting closer and closer, then he was way too close way too fast so I pretended I was at the house I meant to be at and when up to the door to fake knock....and he slowly walked by eyeing me. As he passed the house I booked it across the yard and started running back towards the mall. I looked over my shoulder and he was running after me. I never ran so fast. I made it to the gas station on the corner and crossed the street to the mall and ran through the parking lot to get back in the mall. He just stood there at the street corner by the gas station looking towards the mall parking lot. I went to a pay phone in the mall and called my mom to pick me up. Never told her what happened. I was afraid I'd get in trouble for leaving the mall. I never have been so scared. Lesson learned.

I know Chesapeake and Virginia Beach weren't as developed in 1981 as they are now, but I'm baffled at how it took 40 minutes to get to those two malls back then.

I just like the video because of the age. Look at the filter then and now. Cameras have come long long way in design. Just love it! 😁

@@vamplife2148 Up until the '80s the city of Virginia Beach had Blue Laws.. meaning only grocery/drug stores could be open on Sundays. Retail stores that didn't sell non-essential stuff (like food & medicine) could not open. The ABC (alcohol) stores in VA kept Blue Laws for a long time after Va Beach ended their own Blue Laws. I think Blue Laws are ok.. I think businesses like Chik-fil-A and Hobby Lobby still have their own form of an internal blue law, they're not open on Sundays. (peace)
