This video is epic! 😆One for the books! There are so many wrong things about it: 1. A captain clearly without experience 2. A captain taking 4 passengers on his first day out on the water 3. Everyone without life vests (but at least with beers!) 4. Passengers holding the beer instead of holding on for dear life 5. Passengers turning their back to ocean and boat that could crush them against the rock 6. Passengers prioritising finishing the beer instead of getting to safety 7. Captain abandoning the boat 8. Captain declining rescue of boat 9. No one clearing the content of the abandoned boat 10. No one picking up or securing the stuff that is getting loose and about to pollute the sea 11. And when you think this list couldn't get any longer, at 6:21 that guy is almost washed away 🤦‍♂

Yes, I'm amazed no one got really hurt. They did not understand how fortunate they were to walk away. If that boat would have hit any part of their body, serious injuries would have occurred quickly. First starts with the watching the weather, next to understand the physics of boating, not as easy as it looks, even the most skilled find situations that can challenge their skills.

Recently at Manasquan, New Jersey a boat holding a father and his two sons overturned as strong waves from hurricane Lee crashed into the rocks. All that was left of the boat were little pieces of it floating in the water. The father and his eldest was rescued but unfortunately the youngest son is declared missing. He’s most definitely dead, floating somewhere in the water. It’s irritating to see how arrogant boat riders are. In a split of a second someone’s life can be at risk.

My wife bought a new Reinell 18 1/2 ft. boat without my input...she supposedly was "taught" boating by the salesmen who sold it...first time on the water, she was determined to pilot & pull away from the dock at the controls...I was up at the bow tending the line , she put it in reverse, & noting the boat wasn't moving after two-seconds, advanced the throttle to full throttle, in reverse, as we sped across the four lane ramp towards the other dock, the still attached line paying out in my hand...trying to avoid smacking the other dock, I tightened my grip, burning the line looped thru my hand...a gentile bump on the other dock & a burn scar neatly in & around my hand, disaster avoided, but at a cost. She never drove that boat again, my boating experience since 1973 took over.

@@aaronwalker8847 I understand your point. However, if anyone had fallen off the boat....and several came really close.....inches made the difference between luck and serious injury, then it would have been a very different story. In CT a person committing reckless operation thus endangering anyone's life, limb, or property is subject to fines and loss of license. It is amazing after watching so many close calls and potential loss of life, that blind luck is the determinant of culpability. Hopefully at least most people know the freedom to operate a boat also comes with a sense of responsibility.... but as we know many people lose their minds when stepping on a boat.

I been out of the Boca Inlet hundreds of times. As most of you know you never want your boat sideways in the inlet with big seas. You need to muscle straight through slowly and head on into the waves. Then when you get pass the hazards (rocks) you can then swiftly turn around between waves. It's just the captains lack of experience or panic set in. He had a chance at 0:46 for recovery but instead of full throttle he pushed the throttle all the way down. When in doubt, throttle out!

The power of the ocean is amazing. I was surf fishing at the Jersey shore for stripers many years ago. I fished from dusk til dawn. In the middle of the night a guy was running his boat with no lights right off the end of the jetties. I thought that was a pretty dangerous move and it wasn't long before I heard the crash. He punched a hole in the bow you could walk through when he hit the rocks. He swam to shore and was drunk. I helped the tow company get the boat pulled up on the beach. By noon that morning there was nothing left on the beach except the inboard motor. The entire boat was gone.

This boat was overloaded and under powered for the high wind and sea conditions at that time. The cost of $6000. for salvage was cheap, compared to the $10,000 federal fine written up by the USCG for environmental hazards (gas/oil, splintered boat and its debris) that still has to be removed because its a navigational hazard at the head of the inlet.

There were at least two errors commited in this situation. ONE; the operator of the crashed boat had no apparent knowledge of how to deal with that inlet area. TWO: the salvage company wanted to charge an outrageous amount to two the boat in. This meant that a boat would be wrecked to tiny pieces of a couple of days impacting the environment in a potentially unfriendly way.
