AMEN I came to say if there's weight distribution a boat works better. Also those jet ski riders made things so much worse they were way too close making wake and buzzing him. Highly unsafe. Poor children are probably the smartest ones here the ones grabbing for the life vests

My best guess is the captain doesn't have a boating license. Rule number #1 when boating: everyone needs to wear a lifejacket. 2nd, he went way too fast for the circumstances which tells me he was unexperienced as well.

You don't Wana go full speed with max capacity boat on a strong and tall waves side ways not an option either thats were angle approach comes in If you head towards the wave you'll be rocking up down in front and rear as you go down the bow(front) of the boat dives through the second wave it lets water in and possibly sinks the boat if too much gets it If you go side ways on waves your boat rolls side to side too tall and powerful wave could capsize the boat which would cause it to sink or flip upside down which would throw everyone off the ship

And Coast Guard has so many free boating safety programs. Even boat vendors have safety and training. And life vests on board. Stowed. It’s not like he tried to save money by not having vests. Kind of like a fire extinguisher in the garage and then a kitchen fire.

There are MANY situations where we are not wearing PFDs onboard a vessel, it just depends. If someone lacks the experience to know when and where to have one on, then certainly keep them on, but for those of us with a ton of experience, we should be able to use some discretion.

Omg, guys the Sea-Doos were driven by Life Guard's/Beach Rescue, and its obvious the rescue attempt was already in progress when the video starts. The boat looked liked it was trying to get in to shore, although im not sure why. You dont take boats like that out to sea from the ocean shore nor do you return from your outing via the beach. ONE WORD WAVES!!! not sure what the boat driver was doing or thinking. I suppose its possible that they had an emergency an needed to get into shore right away and got caught up in the rough waters and waves.

Captain thinking the jetski will help, your boat is sinking and you can save the people, perhaps maybe the boat too 6. There's massive visible waves, bro just sends it 7. I’ve been on cruise ships and I went on the queen Mary 2 once for a wedding they make sure no one has a life jacket on unless in serious danger it may cause a panic.

@@JYgaming-yl2yt - We are just midwest lake people but I didn't want to fight with the kids so I just told them from the start as toddlers it was "the law" until they were 16 they had to have a vest on in the boat. I didn't tell them it was "dad's law". They weren't inquisitive enough to look it up. I think I relented when my son got to 15ish....

I hate rich people. Who puts their kid on a boat without a life jacket?! After working in a pediatric ER, I now know that kids with boating injuries look just like kids injured in war zones. Boat propellor injuries look just like the injuries you see in Palestinians injured by air strikes in the Gaza g-cide. Boats are scary and dangerous if you don't follow proper safety procedures. Someone I know died in a boating accident while working at a marina as a boat mechanic right after college, because of a mistake his coworker made. He jumped off a boat into the water and was never seen again until his body was found. It turned out his coworker accidentally did something to a power outlet on the boat, and it electrified the water. He died of an electric shock. Simple mistakes regarding boating are literally life and death.

Idk how it works in other places but in Aus you need a lifey if you are 16 or under if you are in enclosed waters and 100+ lifeys are compulsory for adults and children in open water

@@zeftyzest1595 the lakes we take our boat out on here in the US say 14 and under have to. I cant believe they had a child in the ocean, in a well know dangerous area without one. I was also shocked to see the guy in the front looked like he was holding onto the woman and didnt even bother grabbing the kid. In an area like that everyone should have had one on. Honestly, I think they should get child endangerment charges.

I was thinking the same thing like just shift some of the body weight. That seemed like the problem from what I’m seeing. I’m ignorant to boating life stuff, so that’s all I can come up with really🤣.

@@shydoll8063 What he needed to do was to adjust his plane by tilting the motor to bring the bow up, remove weight from the front (bow) and speed up. When you get out of there you can go faster and pull the drain plug to drain the water.

I’m no expert… I have very minimal boating experience. Also the lakes are nice and calm compared to that where I’m at. But if I was trying to hit that… 1. Life jackets!!!…. Especially on the kids at ALL times! 🤦♂️ 2. No one in the front of the boat 3. Trim the motor up to try and get the bow up 4. Waves look smaller closer to shore. Probably try and go that way 5. I would even left the snap cover on the bow and close the windshield. Probably won’t do much, but at least it’s an idea. 6. Most importantly, Don’t even try it if you have other peoples lives at stake and you’re unsure if it’s safe.

Right?!! I was waiting for the people in front to rush to the back, but no… everyone just calmly took a life jacket and went on with their day. This was so incredibly irresponsible. I grew up on a lake in the summers and my grandfather laid the groundwork for safety. He would be flipping his sh!t watching this video!!!!

FYI, panicking does not require action. Panicking doesn’t even require a physical response. Panic is to move pass the point of fear and no response is predictable at that point. Some of those faces say it all. And panicking also brings on a sense of hopefulness and immobility.

You should never turn around in seas like these. All you needed to do is cut your speed in half. Keep moving at a 35-45 degree angle to the waves. Once you are clear of the breaking seas you can turn around.

I'm not a captain or never but I own a boat but he looks like he's heading into the waves wrong. When you see water that rough you shouldn't be out in a boat like that. He had life preserves on. I respect them for that one but they should all been wearing them. It's a lot safer to wear a light preserver than put it on after the boat's going to sink. Thank you. This is common sense I'm saying. 😮

People don't get it, when I was a kid I was (and still am) a great swimmer so I thought life jackets were unnecessary but when I was a little older and not as stupid lol, I realized it's not about how great you can swim because if you're going fast on a boat and an accident happens and you pass out, hurt yourself, or both, the life jacket will keep you from drowning when you aren't able to swim in bad conditions.

YES!! I went to middle school with a kid who disappeared while boating on a lake with his family. His body was never found. His family assumed he drowned while they weren't watching, because I guess he was not wearing a life jacket. That kid was awful to me in middle school, but he did not deserve that. I'm horrified just thinking about it.

Didn’t know people still think “man card” is a thing. He fucked up, everyone fucks up. Some fuck ups are worse than others, it is what it is. Take away his license and fine him. He’s not less of man because he fucked up. What he does after he made his mistakes is what defines who he is. Does he take this seriously next time or does he not care and do it again?
