Installing a lift kit on a Jeep Wrangler JL is a lot easier than you’d think and in this DIY video, made for beginners, we'll show you exactly how to do it. While the kit featured is made by Rancho, the step-by-step instructions will apply to most any standard coil and shock suspension system, from a basic 2” budget boost up to a 4”+ lift, complete with adjustable control arms and track bars. Of course, every tool you’ll need is identified, torque settings are stated and tips and tricks to help make the process easier, are provided as well. Trust me, this is something you can do!

I’ve been trying to decide on a brand for a lift to my JT, I’m an late 80s 4x4 guy and have been a Rancho fan, but now I can’t decide and seeing all these other brands that are so pricey and wonder how Rancho kits are so much cheaper…

Why isn't this the top Jeep channel on KZfaq? There's a lot of channels with guys that do the same thing, but the video quality is nowhere near this good. Everything is clear, everything is clean so it's easy to see what is going on, even if it's a tiny fastener. Lots of props to the camera operator and editor. And I really like that this channel doesn't shill for a brand that looks good on the gram. Just shows how to do it.

Sir, you are helping me tremendously! Between you & a few other KZfaqrs that work on Jeeps, I am surprising myself & becoming much more comfortable working on both my older & newer Jeeps...saving me lots of money & learning very valuable lessons. I'm not saying it's for the faint at heart. The ball joints change along with 1 ton steering was a much bigger feat than I thought, BUT I eventually figured it all out & now can take my front end apart & put it back together very quickly. I surprise my wife now with how much faster & efficient I have become working on each of my Jeeps. Thank you for these videos. I would love to meet y'all some day. You have a very patient wife as your videographer. Y'all work great together. Thank y'all both.

I LOVE these "how to" videos. I thoroughly enjoyed the Pippi series and still go back and watch them now and then. The way you make all of this look so easy give guys like me the confidence that I might actually be able to pull a project like this off myself. I'm also a HUGE fan of the fact that you try to get products made in the USA and also that you don't just get the biggest, baddest, most expensive stuff you can find. You keep it accessible for those of us who don't have tens of thousands of dollars to spend on all of this.

@@wayalife Just wanted to say thanks again. I got my 2" lift installed on my Gladiator this weekend, using this video, your video on the Gladiator rear lift, and referencing the manufacturers instructions for control arm length. When I finished, it was toed in so bad I could actually see it clearly. I found another video you did on a DIY alignment, so I followed it. Took it for a drive and it drives straight and true. I will still get a professional alignment, but it drives perfect. Went all the way to 80 mph and no death wobble. Drives and rides just like it did before, but with less lean in the curves and corners. Thanks again for such great content!!!

Oh yeah, you can totally do it and in some ways, it's even easier on a JK being that the torque specs are lower on things like the control arms and the rubber isolators are not indexed. Otherwise, the steps are pretty much the same.

I about spit out my breakfast when Ripley dropped in at 13:53 :D Great video Eddie, and I completely agree. My wife and I recently put an AEV 2" spacer lift on my Mojave, and it was one of the most eye-opening experiences of our entire Jeep ownership. Especially if you don't have a full garage of tools, you'll learn so much about working on vehicles in general that so many of the things you thought sounded so intimidating before are actually not that bad at all. Prior to doing our lift, I was scared shitless at the thought of drooping my axle past where the CAs normally hold it. LIKE, WHAT IF BOTH JACKSTANDS FAIL AND THE FLOOR JACK FAILS AND THE AXLE HITS THE GROUND!? WHAT DO I DO!? But, as was clearly stated in this video - it's really not that hard if you just take your time, buy the right tools, and ask for help if you need it.

I had my 2021 Wrangler EcoDiesel lifted in December but I really enjoyed your video on how it was done. Great explanations and great video. By the way, I was driving my Jeep in April when a semi decided he needed my space. The trailer hit my right rear tire and wheel and destroyed them both. It also hit the right front tire and wheel and gouged both badly enough that they needed to be replaced. There was some minor ($4000 worth) of body damage just in front of the right rear tire and the fender flares were also impacted. The Jeep was not knocked out alignment but the steering wheel was not centered and the traction control warning light came on. The guys that lifted my Jeep straightened it up in a short amount of time. Now I know how they did it. I hope I never have to use that knowledge but thank you for a great job of teaching me how to do it.
@wayalife
@wayalife Жыл бұрын
Based on what I'm hearing from you, the fact that your steering wheel was off after the hit, tells me that your drag link is most likely bent a bit. That is, assuming that your alignment was in fact still on would tell me that your tie-rod is okay and probably your track bar as well. Might want to have that checked.

On those heavy torques , like the 190 on the LCA's, it can be tough, especially if you're working by yourself. If you'll look at the torque specs from Jeep's service manual, which I posted to your forums a few months back, you'll see that they specify X amount of torque PLUS X amount of degrees. If you don't have a torque wrench that goes to 190, or you just don't like the workout, you can set the initial lower torque using the torque wrench, and then do the additional degrees with your impact wrench. Placing index lines on your impact sockets makes it easier to keep up with how many degrees you're moving. If you go over by a little bit, don't worry about it. If you go way over, back up past the mark and bump it again. Another great video and I'm sending this one to a buddy who's been thinking about installing his own lift kit for some time, and he just needs a little boost in confidence to get it done!
