Brilliant! Clear and concise. Why I watched, I’ll never know, as I don’t go sailing but I enjoyed it anyway. Thanks.

Great series of vids, thanks. Another tip: Before removing a mast you can attach all of the stays to the mast about 2/3 down the mast. You just use bicycle inner tubes to wrap everything against the mast in their correct position. So when you arrive at the beach in the dark, rain and strong onshore wind you've got a chance 😊.

Very helpful , when I’m considering getting a hartley wayfarer, perhaps follow with how to rig for travelling on trailer / drop mast for under bridge etc If you could do a video on main features of the boat and some of main accessories would be really good to understand for those new to the boat 👍👌

Here's a tip: when rigging always wear a thin fisherman's waistcoat and keep small tools and spares in specific places in the little zipped pockets. (You have another spare fisherman's waist coat for food supplies😊)

Mr Hartley you don't come from new zealand where we have the Hartley 16 trailer sailor. Very similar lines to the wayfarer. May I suggest you check this wee vessel out as it is way superior to the wayfarer and sport's a cabin. I should know because I lived on one for 6 months here on the northeast coast of New Zealand. I added a 25 watt vhf,40 watt solar panel and haha a tp1 tillerpilot.

I met Mark Hartley with his father at the Southampton boat show some years ago. They are the A team! Hope that has not given you both a red face.

Thank you for the upload; some useful nuggets. What about matters like rig tension on the shrouds? Also, location of the mast foot on the mast track - should this be as far forward as possible then? Lastly, I had understood from the original Wayfarer guidance that we should never sail with the tabernacle pin inserted? Any additional guidance would be gratefully received.

Good video Mark. One question - how are the trapeze lines attached to the mast? It looks as if they are sited above the mast tangs for the shrouds. I have a Mark 2 Wayfarer. Is there any advantage is placing the trapeze attachments above or below - or even sharing - the hounds?

Great video, thanks. How would you check the mast rake? Should it be measured (top of mast to centre if transom)with the shrouds and Genoa halyard fully tensioned with the high field lever.

Thank you for the video. Just purchased a used Wayfarer, so very helpful. I'm wondering what the device is on the upper mast. Is that an inversion preventer? If so, who sells it? Cheers.
@stuwhite23373 жыл бұрын
It is mast head bouyancy as mk4s have a tendency to invert. There are several different systems. Hartleys sell the one in the video. Mine has this. Haven't needed it yet though.

LOL make sure nothing is in it that shouldn't be in it....like a kiler rabbit. if the ropes and bits n bobs get tangled up, untangle them. Can we get more useful information? I'm trying to step the mast and rig my new wayfarer here.
@romiguiere Жыл бұрын
Hi ! Great job. But as aitorzuazo8525, I have been told (I read it in the Wanderer Owners Manual too) that THE MAST PIVOT PIN MUST NOT BE LEFT IN THE TABERNACLE WHEN SAILING. What to you think about it ?
@stuwhite23372 ай бұрын
I wouldn't advise anyone to step a Wayfarer mast like that. It's really dangerous if it goes wrong.

Does this jib furling system also able to reef the jib to a smaller size?
@stuwhite23373 жыл бұрын
It will but the steel wire shroud can twist. A furling spar is better if you want to reef the genoa.
