That mic is unreal, it picks up every nuance of that dreadnought and the playing is very nice as well, it's a nice take on T.R's version. Tony always said don't play exactly what I played. I beat you to it. If you want to impress me play something different. I think Tony would have liked your version. Cheers

Does the bandana on the neck help with the sound or tone? I’ve seen slap bass players do that a lot. Is there an advantage for flat picking as well?

Can i ask if someone is willing to answer? How to learn to play this way? I am pretty much talented and actually very good when it comes to technical stuff of playing, but i kind have problems learning or more correct remembering stuff i want to play. (as a reminder i dont have any learning disabilities) Its just like have some mental blockage that prevents me from being better or knowing more and better? I mean looking at thins guys hands i know i can play this. From the technical side....But it seems i cant process it and make me remember and repeat. Should i learn the chords progression first, then add up lil' solo parts that connects all or what? Btw when i was a teen or in even mid-twenties, i was playing by the ear, even musicians like Buckethead. Now in early '40s it seems i cant connect in my head even what's in front of me. i have a Japanese Pro series Takamine guitar, sounds great, action is low beyond comprehension without buzz what so ever, everything should be easy...But its not. PS i had a massive pause in guitar playing and learning process. Like 10 years. Maybe thats one of the reasons? Thanks in advantage.

Its called flatpicking. Your picking hand moves up and down with every stroke. So say you pick low E 2 times pick once down once up. That means A string pick down then D string pick up. Practice that all open strings. Then do chords. Its basically just flatpicking chords. Really simple. Go slow first it will one day click.

Lessons With Marcel KZfaq has a lot of free bluegrass lessons. Banjo Ben Clark is another one. From the mental blockage perspective, the books Effortless Mastery and Brainjo have a lot of advice. A lot of it is letting go of fears and getting out of your own way.
