@Nothing But Lunkers he might have more money but his music is still not country and still sucks. The fact that he is so popular speaks to the low caliber of taste of people today. And I would imagine the majority of his fan base is female kinda like the Male pop stars of the 90s and early 2000s. People can like whatever they want. And in turn I can make assumptions about their moral character and intelligence level based on what I see. Luckily I'm rarely wrong

@tommypetersen25408 жыл бұрын
I can never put my finger on it, something so unique about his voice. It's great for one thing, but is it the phrasing, the honesty, I don't know but when he sings his voice just has this gravitas that makes everything sound soulful. Oh who cares, the guy's just awesome, the fact that he was a good guy just makes it all the sweeter.
@rexoates44848 жыл бұрын
+Tommy Petersen I agree and I heard it explained like this, that what separates his voice from others is that when his sings, it makes you believe in the lyrics. It doesn't require sweetening.
@tommypetersen25408 жыл бұрын
+Rex Oates I really like how you used the word "sweetening". You must have read Waylon's book as he mentions how execs would take his or Willie's albums and " sweeten" them in production. The result would be an album that would be virtually unrecognizable to both Willie or Waylon. It has been said before, but any artist who has creative control over their music owes a HUGE debt to Waylon. He sacrificed so much to truly make Nashville ask " are you sure Hank done it this way?" The system sadly never really forgave him. As soon as his sales went from astronomical to merely really good they cut him loose. Their paying for it now as Nashville again has become bland,overly commercial, and the furthest thing from genuine.....and Waylon's legacy and legend just continues to grow.
@rexoates44848 жыл бұрын
+Tommy Petersen I don't really remember that in his book, but it was in another book about country music that I was looking at in the local library I think. The author was comparing people like Waylon to many of today's artists that have no real singing voice. Everything is just sweetened to make them sound better. You're right about people owing a debt to Waylon. He broke down so many doors for others to walk through.

I love Waylon's production sensibilities. There is almost always a Telecaster and a pedal steel played through a phase shifter. This puts a stamp on the music and distinguishes it from everything else. In 1975, competition was absolutely fierce: Almost every country record that made the top 200 from that era is legendary and every artist an all-time icon, but Waylon still stands as one of the very best.

As good as it gets and a lot of sisters and brothers meet his greatness. None surpass. EVER!!!!!!!

The chicken pickin' interplay between Waylon and Ralph Mooney on steel is easily one of the all-time crown jewels of the best in country music. Spare and clean, yet drives like a locomotive.

I go back here every time I need a "Waylon fix". I'm always amazed at how he sounds just as good live as on record. I just miss this guy. I probably read parts of his bio every day. ( yeah, I need help)

No one sings like waylon and I admire he’s one of the only country singers I’ve seen with an electric guitar and a damn good band. I mean his singing is just insane, and the combos of the drums hi hats and the steel guitar and his little solos it’s just a different sound. The best one

So much and heart and soul in this old classic they dont even come close to making music like this nowadays. The low down is it ain't ever going to match it what so ever.

To me it looks like he's been up for about a week lol, he loved his uppers back then cocaine especially. Nothing against Waylon hell they all did something. Like when Hank sang "I got so sick from speedin all that stuff they said i was needin.. If i was to keep pleasing, all of my fans.."
