its so corny . she had to jump on the band wagon because country is so popular right now , you know people that play instruments and work hard all their lives doing coffee shops ,small bars , clubs , and fairs etc , doing their time . and then all she does is get all her contacts and producers to put out a " country " album .. its terrible @@rockers2rockers616

Double time on the hi hats and the way the kick sounds. It's not just a straight beat. It's both in front and being the snare. That's so cool the way this drummer did it. I try to get my drummers to do this. I play in a three piece band and we try to sound as full as possible. I do all leads and vocals. Waylon will always be my favorite country singer and lead guitarist. RIP Waylon.

@Nothing But Lunkers he might have more money but his music is still not country and still sucks. The fact that he is so popular speaks to the low caliber of taste of people today. And I would imagine the majority of his fan base is female kinda like the Male pop stars of the 90s and early 2000s. People can like whatever they want. And in turn I can make assumptions about their moral character and intelligence level based on what I see. Luckily I'm rarely wrong

I can never put my finger on it, something so unique about his voice. It's great for one thing, but is it the phrasing, the honesty, I don't know but when he sings his voice just has this gravitas that makes everything sound soulful. Oh who cares, the guy's just awesome, the fact that he was a good guy just makes it all the sweeter.
@rexoates4484
@rexoates4484 8 жыл бұрын
+Tommy Petersen I agree and I heard it explained like this, that what separates his voice from others is that when his sings, it makes you believe in the lyrics. It doesn't require sweetening.
@tommypetersen2540
@tommypetersen2540 8 жыл бұрын
+Rex Oates I really like how you used the word "sweetening". You must have read Waylon's book as he mentions how execs would take his or Willie's albums and " sweeten" them in production. The result would be an album that would be virtually unrecognizable to both Willie or Waylon. It has been said before, but any artist who has creative control over their music owes a HUGE debt to Waylon. He sacrificed so much to truly make Nashville ask " are you sure Hank done it this way?" The system sadly never really forgave him. As soon as his sales went from astronomical to merely really good they cut him loose. Their paying for it now as Nashville again has become bland,overly commercial, and the furthest thing from genuine.....and Waylon's legacy and legend just continues to grow.
@rexoates4484
@rexoates4484 8 жыл бұрын
+Tommy Petersen I don't really remember that in his book, but it was in another book about country music that I was looking at in the local library I think. The author was comparing people like Waylon to many of today's artists that have no real singing voice. Everything is just sweetened to make them sound better. You're right about people owing a debt to Waylon. He broke down so many doors for others to walk through.

I love Waylon's production sensibilities. There is almost always a Telecaster and a pedal steel played through a phase shifter. This puts a stamp on the music and distinguishes it from everything else. In 1975, competition was absolutely fierce: Almost every country record that made the top 200 from that era is legendary and every artist an all-time icon, but Waylon still stands as one of the very best.

Even as a kid, I could always recognize Waylons guitar sound. Years later I found out about effects and equipment, But a clean tele w a small stone or MXR through a bif Fender w a little reverb will always be HIS sound!

Don't know how many times, as a kid, I watched Hee-Haw, and so many bands had a pedal steel master like this gentleman. It always impressed me, even as a small kid. Waylon's voice and his band are awesome, too. Just like early 80's country.

I lived in Arlington TX and my ex brother in law knew Terry Jennings. I was and still am a huge fan of Waylon. Long story short I wrote Waylon a letter and wanted to have him sign a picture for my dad for fathers day. I checked my mail and I won the lottery! I received 2 autograph pictures signed by Waylon! He gave one to me as well as my dad! My dad always said if you ever can play the guitar like Waylon you won't have to work!! I have many favorites to say of his songs! Waylon will always live in my heart and soul!! He was definitely a classic kinda guy! It was his way or no way!!

No one sings like waylon and I admire he’s one of the only country singers I’ve seen with an electric guitar and a damn good band. I mean his singing is just insane, and the combos of the drums hi hats and the steel guitar and his little solos it’s just a different sound. The best one
