Got to see Waylon years ago back in 1978 he came to Hazard Kentucky to do a concert for their annual Black Gold festival, they also had most of the actor's from the Duke's of Hazzard show to appear at the festival, it was during this time that the Duke's of Hazzard had their highest ratings, The concert Waylon did there brought in a record crowd, people came from other States to see Waylon, I was only 16 at the time and it was definitely the biggest thing I had ever seen, Waylon was one of a kind, he was just as simple and down to earth as a country boy could be, Waylon's act was natural he didn't have to pretend to be something that he wasn't, I've seen other country musicians try to copy the image that Waylon had, and even though they try they can't even come close to being the entertainer that Waylon was, he didn't have to try it came natural to him and that's just one of the things that make him a true legend, Never could toe the mark and I never could walk the line, Yeah🎸🎸

There's a real honesty to Waylon's music. He wrote about his life and didn't hide the mistakes, it's all there. He had a great sense of humor, he really didn't seem to be nervous about performing. Very natural, and a huge amount of music. I keep finding great songs that weren't hits, but could've been. His covers of vintage country songs were the best renditions I've heard. Ramshackle Shack/Sparkling Eyes, Big Mamou, and Big Ball in Cowtown are just fun to listen to, thanks not only to Waylon's style, but Ralph Mooney's scorching lap steel. Miss both of them, great musicians.

That "Waylon" guitar is just recognizable and great! He is always considered to be one of the top five greatest country artists. That's a given, what's amazing is that his peak was from 72-79. That's not a lot of time and yet his legacy just keeps growing. Imagine if Nashville let him "do it his way" sooner. Even non country fans love this guy, and every artist regardless if genre who has artistic freedom owes a huge debt to Waylon

His peak in my opinion was more like 1967 to all the way to the late 80's early 90's....he was awesome playing with the Highwaymen!!! The first time I ever seen Waylon on TV was around 1967, the first time I ever seen Waylon live was in 1974....I was 15 years old.....from then on he had my heart!!! You will always be missed Waylon, and never ever forgotten!!!!🎶🎵🎹🎸🎼❤❤❤❤❤💞💞💞💞💞 RIP WAYMORE!!!😅❤💞🎸🎵🎶🎼

This man was. One of the great Legends. I worked with Duke he played Base for Waylon in the late 70s early 80s. Duke became a construction painter after leavening Waylon.
