Are You A Waylon Fan? 🤔

I worked for Waylon from 1979 to 1983 and it was an amazing experence. What a great person, artist, and entertainer. I have nothing but good things to say about him. He was very kind and intelligent. He was not the image he portrayd. Four years touring and recording all over the country, what an experience!

My uncle worked for Waylon for 12 years. As a young musician, I was allowed several times to sit on the back of the stage at concerts. It was beyond my ability to describe. RIP Waylon and Rugus.

I cried like a baby when Waylon died. I saw him once in the 80's in Nashville walking down the road, but in the 90's I saw him in concert and he put on the best show. The next morning after the show, my wife and I went to an interstate truck stop to meet her brother and his family. My brother-n-law and were walking in and I saw Waylon sitting in a booth and I said "That guy looks like Waylon Jennings." and Waylon replied "I am Waylon Jennings" I spoke to him briefly and left him to his meal. I can't say I have a favorite song, because I love em all. I really like the song called "Broken Promise Land" Anyway, great video.

He was one of the most honest persons to have ever lived. He absolutely loved music and hated the music business.

Waylon Jennings is my favorite musical artist. His unique guitar sound and choice of songs (he also wrote many great songs himself) contribute to that. But his incredible voice and vocal styling were solid gold. I saw him live in 1989 and 1996, which I'm grateful for. I do admire his musical integrity, and highly respect his choice to get clean of drugs. There was so much more to him than the Outlaw image, though he admittedly fit the definition in Nashville. His love for Jessi inspired me so much that I looked for my own "Jessi" for years. I found her. Ironically, like Waylon she suffered from diabetes and other health issues, and like Waylon complications eventually took her sweet life. One of my favorite songs he recorded is the one he said was probably his favorite, "Dreaming My Dreams". He said that he believed once you've loved someone you always will. There's no call for bitterness and meanness. You just have to put that part of your past in it's own place and open your heart to new love. Does that sound like an Outlaw? Not at all. But the song that's a candidate for my favorite is "I've Always Been Crazy". That one clearly describes a man with a wild streak. Over the years I noticed that after he got clean Waylon became more serene. His famous sense of humor shone brighter, and he had new energy in music and life. But when his health began to fail significantly he seemed to bristle more about Nashville returning to it's old ways and creating stars rather than nurturing artists. His short time with The Waymore Blues Band, the "band of his dreams", resulted in a great live album and video, and he fought hard to survive, physically and professionally. My wife and I considered "Freedom to Stay" to be "our song". But Waylon had so many great songs and albums to his name. RIP Hoss.

Waylon has been one of my favorite recording artist EVER. At around 10 years old, I fell in love with a woman named Daisy, a car named after a famous General and Waylon's voice, all found in a new TV show. I've seen Waylon in concert and collected many of his albums. I cried the day he died. The music he created will be with me until the day I pass.

I am an Aussie..and a diehard CM devotee... I was fortunate enough to see Waylon in concert when he toured Australia with Willie Nelson and Billy Joe Shaver, back in the early '90's. For my money, Waylon stole the show. His interaction with the fans was awesome. RIP Waylon and Billy Joe

Waylon was one of a kind I love everything about him & his music I am very glad he decided to spend more time with his family He is missed very much but he is a legend no one can touch his reputation in music rver

I saw Waylon, Hank Jr. the Crickets live in Omaha 1979 I was 16. We had 3 row floor, center stage seats. Hank Jr and the Crickets were the opening groups. I remember the Crickets and Waylon noticing us kids in front just how we were rocking out to the music, both would look over at us and give us smirking grin. Waylon had a bottle of either Jim Beam or Jack Daniels sitting on a amplifier just behind the curtain, and every so often he’d walk over and take a swig.

Waylon will always be one of the best he was an awesome man & guitar player & singer.. He was a great musician.

I got to see him live in 1990 with the Highwaymen, Willie, Cash and Kris. He was Great!. Very funny to. I miss him.

I am a huge Waylon fan. Have seen him live multiple times. I have 2 favorite songs of his I always been crazy, and Amanda. When he passed away I shunned country music for years because his passing hit me that hard. There will never be anyone like him ever.❤

When people ask me what kind of music I like I tell them Waylon Jennings I'm sorry for those that lost their life on that plane but I am glad Waylon survived he gave the world so much it was very humble of him to do a lot of things I am thankful for the time that Waylon did give the world

My first concert, openers was Ken Melon, Ricky Lynn Greg and a young Toby Keith. Then Waylon took the stage and rocked it. I was 12 years old and now 42…still best show I’ve ever been to!

I remember growing up I would hear all kinds of country musicians on the radio but never Waylon Jennings he would be on a track with say Johnny Cash or Willie Nelson what is songs didn't get no airplay he got his notoriety by word of mouth and putting his face out there he is a true talent if you really want to hear Waylon shine listen to him do backup vocals for other musicians he can be heard playing and singing all genres of music from hard Rock to hillbilly country right into r&b Waylon was a gift for the world to share

I saw Waylon in Jackson Mississippi years ago. It was one of the best and most powerful concerts I have ever attended! When he walked on stage just his presence was so commanding!

P.S.: Waylon Jennings did put out a final album! It's called, fittingly, Goin' down Rockin '!

Waylon was my hero from the time I was 18. I git the pleasure of attending 3 live concerts.😢 I miss him but God wanted him, I listen to his music daily. Waylon was a total Bad Ass! One of the greatest voices. Truly a legend in his own time.

My brother saw him at Mr. Lucky's in the 60's and told me about him, what a good entertainer he was. Then I saw him at a fair (I think in Wisconsin) in the early 70's as my family was playing the same fair with the Movieland Animal Show. I thought wow, this guy is good. The rest is history, I've been a huge Waylon fan since. I like his 'my way' attitude.

I was 9 years old Champaign IL. My mom had a huge crush on Waylon. She took us, me,mom, and my brother to see Waylon Jennings and Jessie Colter at the assembly hall. It was right before he got busted for cocaine. Mom was crushed over the drugs.

My team and I had the pleasure of working with Waylon; both on publisher demos and scratch tracks for finished products. I opened (along with one or two other artists) for Waylon at the four corners and the Celebrity Geo Theater back in the early nineties. Waylon was cool, honest, straight razored type of guy that could be intimidating at times if you didn't know him but to know him, he was a kind and thoughtful man and what a storyteller. I liked the way he went against the record establishment and carved his own path. Very few can hold a candle to Waylon!

Yes I’m definitely a big Fan of Waylon. i also played guitar for over 35 years untill a Traumatic BrainInjury caused Paralysis in one of my Arms I’ve always thought Waylon’s playing was often Underated as. Guitarist i personally thought he was very Versatile even more especially because for so many years he was Chemically dependent with the Drugs and Alcohol like he was some of his music are some of my Alltime Favorites especially for Jukebox music in Dive Southern Bars

he was by far my favorite singer. i saw him live four time. 1984 at Willie's picnic. 1989 at Willie's new nightclub in Houston where i was about 6 feet directly in front of him and the stage. that was AWESOME. 1995 in shreveport, and 1999 in dallas for the never say die concert where he was seated for the entire show. that was sad because i knew the end was near. but it was still agreat show.

Still miss him. Took his passing in a Hell of a way. Not too long before he passed he was playing in Window Rock, AZ. My band was playing two nights at the famous El Rancho in Gallup. When we went to set up the people in the 49er Lounge told us that Waylons bus had pulled in the night before, back to the Old stomping grounds. They wheeled him in with a guitar on his lap and just played and visited with people for a couple hours or so. Talk about being a day late on my account. Typical Waylon. "Living in the love of the common people." For that and many reasons I'll continue to sing his beloved songs. Growing up one of my most cherished possessions was a Honky Tonk Hero's 8 track that I inherited from my uncle.

I grew up with rock music being my favorite, however Waylon is one of the few country music artists I like and still listen to.

He was suppose to perform at our County Fair and of course I bought early ticket. When I got my DL I would cruise around in my 69 Camaro blaring Waylon Jennings from them8 Track player! Anyway, the night he was to perform they told us he was sick and wouldn’t be performing. He died not too long after.😢

I met Waylon in Lima Ohio fair grounds he was thear whith David Alan Co and I got to meet them both Waylon treated me like his famaily never for get it as long as I live good friend of mine knew David Alan real well and he was always good to us always but Waylon didn’t owe me shit but me being a fan of him met the world to him I walked across the lot to stand buy his bus and he walked up behind me said how you doin haus I likes to shit my pants he talked whith me a long time took som pics I still have today was a day I will never forget I will always be grateful to him for his kindness to me

I cannot remember the exact year but it was probably around 1977 when I saw him perform at the Red Dog Sallin in Waco Texas. The Red Dog Saloon was owned by Willie Nelson. The Saloon probably didn’t hold more than 200 people but he put on about a 2 hour performance. Outside was Waylons tour bus parked right at the front door. The bus door was open and there was his wife jessie Colter and another lady that was on tour with the band sitting there on the steps of the bus waiting for the performance to end. Waylon was a good singer and had a great band. With only 200 fans there because of the size of the Saloon it felt like he was giving us a personal private performance. He paid the price for not taking care of his health and he still has a loyal following. I wish his style of music was still around country music is not country anymore.

My dad took me to a Waylon concert when i was maybe fourteen years old at the Cincinnati Gardens in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was raining and we got there early. We saw Waylon's touring bus so we went and got some pictures. We thought maybe Waylon might step out and say high as we were the only two fools standing there in the rain. One of the band members got out of the bus looked at us and kept on walking but no Waylon. Now i wasn't hurt by this. I'm not that big on fanfair or idle worship but i would liked to have shook the hand of the man that inspired my desire for music. Who knows what might have been going on at the time and he may not even have been in the bus but Dad and i went on in and enjoyed the show. Saw Waylon a second time for a moment at another concert. As soon as Waylon got on stage my brother got into a fight with the bouncers so there i was fighting and being arrested while Waylon played live in the background. Looking back, that was kinda cool i guess!

my mom knew him from the bamboo club in enid,oklahoma. just off I-35 it was north of oklahoma city about one hour. just about everybody that were anybody in those days played the bamboo club. mom worked for the country club in enid as a chef and she love the bamboo club. she said waylon was the best lookin man she'd ever seen. lots of great times,great memories.

Favorite song, It's gotta be Mama's Don't Let Your Sons Grow Up TO Be Cowboys, followed by Good Ole Boys. There are many, many more, but those two sit on top. There a reason he's in my playlist on everything. Rock or Country.
