Made of 1000D Cordura nylon, these great packs from Lamnia are a fantastic choice for the bushcrafter, backpacker or for survival training. Each has MOLLE/PALS webbing and feature heavy duty 8 mm zippers and Delrin special plastic buckles. The medium holds up to 30 liters and the large up to 60 liters!
PLEASE NOTE: These packs were stuffed full of blankets etc. for demonstration purposes only. I would never go out on a trip with them so loosely packed or adjusted.
To purchase the Savotta Jakaari medium go to: www.lamnia.com/en/p/37109/bac...
To order the Savotta Jakaari large go to: www.lamnia.com/en/p/37103/bac...

If you haven't checked out these great packs, then you are missing something! While they are a bit pricey, it is worth every bit of the money I spent on the one I purchased. When you are out in the wilderness, you cannot afford to have your backpack fail. I have seen cheap backpacks fail and I believe in paying for quality to avoid this issue. Lamnia is a great company and I think that you would get many years of use out of either one of these backpacks. Thanks for watching and please leave your comments below!

Hey mr Waypoint, I'm 6'3" and I often find that smaller packs don't really work well with waist bands. It seems as if they're kind of short and that the waist band doesn't reach down to the right spot on the hip bone. Is the M like this or can I really load its waist band? I'm looking for a small pack to haul around heavy stuff (tools, more tools, food, water, no fluffy sleeping gear), but I really want to keep the weight on my hips rather than on my shoulders. Are my concerns valid or do you think the M would fit? The overall size of the L is kind of too big for me.

To be truthful, I'm not sure it would fit you or not. I have a long torso and it adjusts well for me. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, but I just saw your comment today.

@@WayPointSurvival So what I would really like to see is how you load these out with a tent and sleeping bag. I'm just trying to make up my mind here - I need a super rugged pack like this (I have three). I'm a bit torn though because these do lack some of the modern features that I'd see with a Mystery Ranch, in particular re. access. Any feedback would be helpful, I guess a pic would be ideal:) BTW: I was also looking at the Tasmanian Tiger packs I saw on the Lamnia site. Thoughts?

I do have the Jääkäri L, I like how it is convertible nearly from Jääkäri S (which I also have) to full capacity which is not so said, because of the molle webbing... And because the lid and the waist belt are removable, it shrinks. Savotta has made the waist belt so that it can be used at its own, just add pouches to the molle. Great channel, love those hobo-videos! Keep it up!

I'm buying a Large in September and truly appreciate your clear cut review thereof! I agree about the lack of side pockets as I intend to carry my 21" Sven saw under a 6ltr Savotta pouch (on either side) on one side and a Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel behind the pouch on the opposite side. The shovel will hold itself aloft by nature of it's shape but now I have to figure out a way to keep the saw from sliding down and out from behind the other pouch. I had originally purchased a Snugpak Endurance 40 which is virtually a civilian version of these packs but A-a little too flimsy compared to these beasts and B- a trifle small for my newby habit of over packing. My only other suggestion to Savotta would be to put webbing "wranglers" on any and every one of the many straps this Large bag comes festooned with! I was previously thinking of getting an ILBE to replace my Snugpak with but this pack is simply too close to perfect unlike the ILBE(which is "close" but not nearly as close to perfect as this unit! Thanks again for the fantastic review!

If you get the Savotta L side pouches, you can mount the axe between the two molle rows. They left the width of two molle rows for that exact purpose. I will carry my Fiskars X7 axe like that and my large knife (Terävä Skrama 240) on the other side, if the sheath fits. Otherwise I'll just wear my JP Peltonen Sissipuukko M95 instead back there. I've ordered the Jääkäri M and two L pouches and should be getting them early next week.

I'd say that they are both probably comfortable for long hikes with heavy weight. I don't have any experience with the RP80, but I am a huge fan of the Savotta line of packs. I do, however, prefer a lid for my backpacks instead of just a roll top, but that's just a personal preference.

The one drawback to the LG pack, is that you have to use the external bags, to carry extra... I put my Trangia 27, and the burner into one of the bags, along with food... in the other, I add a USGI mess kit... but, I'm going to throw my GSI cooking tools, along with a couple bags of food... I just added a hydration bag to go into the bag. The bottom pocket is for USMC 3S bag & compression sack. I use a DD Hammocks MC pyramid tent... and, I have my poncho liner inside my sleeping bag, just in case! It's durable, just not as large as an ALICE pack...

I can't decide which one of these would work for me. I want something I can do some bushcraft/ camping overnighters with but I also want something that I could take on a day hike. This is my first time really getting into this kind of stuff so I'm kind of clueless.
@WayPointSurvival

The best thing you could do is go to a hiking store and actually try on several different backpacks to see which size fits you the best. Then you can go online and order from a different company if you would like or purchase one from the store where you tried it on.

Nice Review thanks. Unfortunately I don't like the way you access the storage, after checking these and many other. I ended getting a World famous TB-880. Been using it for a couple of years now, and I simply love the form factor and how the compartments are designed. And even at this modest price I was truly impressed by the quality of the sewing, fabrics, zippers etc. waterproof and around the same weight as the large one. It offers 55L of storage and full molle and hydration compatibility. For like 60$, I was afraid to buy it over the web at such a low price. But... It was a very pleasant surprise when I received it.

@6:40 - I think this bag (in Large size) is the best "bugout" bag on the market, but to suggest that you don't like all the "extra" compartments seems..... disingenuous. it's TRUE! this bag (stock) doesn't have "enough" separated storage compartments. that's okay!!!!! any extra (separate) storage compartments can be added with molle side storage. i think the DURABILITY of this bag is understated! the absolute BEST, zippered bag can't hold a candle to this bag. If a zipper on a "quality" bag breaks......... what are you left with?!?!?! answer........ nothing. This IS IS IS the best bag for "survival" situations. #ChangeMyMind LOL
