This a great little stove. I use mine with wood and carry it in a kit that fits in a 1 liter bottle bag with my fire starters and utensils in a side pouch. I bought mine some time ago at a higher price but it's worth it. Highly recommend it.

Thanks for the recommendations of both 1.) the Stanley Two Cup Cook Set and 2.) the Standard Pack Stove by Simple Theory Gear. I'd been eyeing that Stanley Cook Set for literally a few years, and when I watched your videos on all of your hacks, I was finally nudged over to buy it. The stove by STG is perfectly paired for the Stanley Cook Set! (It shipped quickly, too!) I'd also been wanting to buy the Pathfinder combo of canteen/nesting cup/nesting stove, but they were always out-of-stock. The new stove and cook set pair are also similar in combined height and dimension to my Nalgene Stainless Steel canteen, so I can also pack another GSI cup on that if I needed one. Another great video--thanks! I've also used a version of an IKEA hobo stove with my Stanley Adventure cook kit. The IKEA hobo stove is not a snug fit, but it is extremely versatile (can be multi-fuel) and is very inexpensive (< $5). With your ingenuity and creativity, you could take it to the next level....

Great video! I’ve been binge watching this dearies and loving all of it. Update on the cook set. 18 May 2021: Cook set is now $39.99 but comes standard with the elevated plate and cotton stuff bag. Ash Pan is $4.75. I cold not find the upgraded bag.

I did find their farewell post on Instagram. If I had known then, I would have loved to talk to them about picking up where they left off. Seemed like a cool little stove.

the classic fancee feest alcohol stove is great for the stanley. You need a windscreen regardless. hiran cook did quite a few videos on this combination.

Not taking the time to look but you seem to forget the butane stove that will fit in place if the alcohol stove. The smaller tank fits right in bottom in place of the cup which I never used anyway

What about the Ozarks cup? :( It is a handy stove set-up, I'm just not sure I'd trade it for the cup at this point in time. I have an Altoids tin stove that packs super small that I made. It doesn't fit inside my Stanley setup either, but I'm still able to keep it in my cooking bag. I've been binge watching all the hacks, and will get started on them next weekend when I'm off. When I'm done, I don't know if I'll still have room at the top end of my kit to put my Altoids tin, but I'll find out. Thanks for all the tips and tricks you've shared!

Be safe when lighting any alcohol stove. Your method with the Trangia I would not suggest to anyone for safety's sake. If you have to light it in a confined space then use a Ferro ( Ferrocerium ) Rod. The sparks from it will light the alcohol in the stove every time , anyway it does for me. One problem with the kit is when using the Trangia you can't use the simmering ring which is a handy item.

I wonder if this setup would nest inside the Stanley Boil and Brew Cup with an additional lid for it minus the French press insert. That would give you an additional large size GSI-style cup. There are other KZfaqrs that have found lids for this brew cup. It would certainly be cool if Simple Theory Gear designed a slightly larger stove and sold it with or allowed it to store a GSI cup and then the Stanley Cookset inside.

Unfortunately just finding out about this great stove just now December 2021. Looks like simple theory gear has close their business. Would you know either where you could still get a pack stove, or another stove that fits the Stanley so well?

Just ordered. It seems the elevated speed plate is not available. Is it any different than the regular one with the tabs bent up? I think it’s time for a WPS branded cook kit, or at least a carrying bag!

How does the ash pan attach? Do you have to use the speed plate or the one that comes with the stove and then be sure to order a separate speed plate for cooking?

Just watched your Stanley two cup series. It would take me all day to make an egg and bacon biscuit with coffee?

Waypoint survival: about using that steel plate underneath supposedly to catch ash: That’s a problem. It wouldn’t take much of a breeze to blow hot ash all over the place. It is simply not the safety feature that they would have you believe, and in fact if people are relying on that in windy area, they’re likely to end up with huge problems due to hot ash blowing around. That absolutely has to be addressed. The company could line the vents with mesh around the inside of the bottom, or you could stick it inside of it cut-off can or pan that’s a little bigger in diameter and the stove unit itself, although there are other options. That would catch ash without interfering with the airflow. But they’re pretty smart about it. They don’t want to pay somebody to actually do any engineering, and they know that you want to get involved with the company to make a few dollars, so they send you a cheap $30 kit with its flaws, and you feel obligated to say nice things about it; your viewers will tell them exactly what’s wrong with it without them having to pay a cent. I think we both know that there are problems with this, and I’m surprised you didn’t call them on it. Because this is about big safety problems, i’ll be complicit with this one. I really love everything that you’re doing on your own here, But there are more problems with this particular stove unit that you would have thought through if you made one, that they did not. Here’s another example of that: I live and camp in areas that tend to be quite windy year-round. This cooker, like so many systems, it’s very tall. The way you’ve been using it up to now hasn’t presented a problem. But perched up on a cooker, there’s vulnerability in windy areas, particularly when using a cooker with a rounded-edged bottom. I can’t help but think that it might be worthwhile for anybody using a set up like yours, which does look to be a very good set up, to cut a couple of pieces of steel and fit them together to give a broader base underneath the set up; which pieces would slide apart at the end of operations when they’re cooled off, and slide in between the cosy and the cup, exactly the same way as the spoon does. Or possibly a mesh sleeve to hold the cooker onto the stove to render it more stable and less prone to be blown over. Nobody needs their food, boiling water, or a stove with ignited fuel in it blown over in high winds. It’s just not safe. Another issue I have here is that it’s unclear about what comes with the unit vs items have to pay more for. As you unpacked the unit, you said it comes with this and then threw in that it was for more money. The truth is, if you have to pay more money then it doesn’t come with those items. Those are add-ons. They might be well worth the price for some things, but they didn’t come with them. You got a free gift that you were asked to speak about, and while i hope that nobody would begrudge it to you, you have a lot of people that depend on you for honest opinion and facts. We trust your intellect and keen eye for detail and thinking things through. I’m sorry to tell you that I’m disappointed in this one. This is the only one of your videos in which I felt disappointed; you left me with the impression that you gave us a little less than your best because somebody paid for this. And you finished up by asking for money to fund more of this sort of thing. For all the other videos you do, that are of your own thinking, I can see why you are asking for money. But you need to be willing to point out the flaws even in a gift, if you’re going to present it this way. The same as you did for the Stanley cooker, and solving the problems as you go. That, my friend, was stellar. It was not a bad product when you bought it, but it was a much better product after you had it for a little while. Even if you hadn’t addressed a problem, you didn’t back down from acknowledging them fearlessly. All the very best!

Yeah they could have added all that that raised ring that you had they could put that in there any of the base plate but yeah it's an idea form later
