I completely get what you mean about Phantom and I kinda feel the same but tbh I’m just beyond happy that they finally got to come back so Imma hype this up till the day I die cause we need these boys to know that we haven’t left them over this long break

I get youuu Diamonds Only is one of the best songs I’ve heard this year

i feel torn because i do feel like they were set up to fail because of the long long wait and rising expectations. i still think it’s a solid title track and i’m so happy they’re back and the album is amazing, so i will be hyping this up and streaming the mv to support them

It's interesting how you said Diamonds Only sounds more like a WayV song than Phantom. To me Diamond Only sounds like a NCT 127 song, whilst Phantom is very inline with the "sexy" group concept of WayV. Phantom has an older SM sound, reminding me of EXO MAMA, the song also sounds similar to R1SE's Zoom, particularly the rap parts. When I first heard Phantom I was confused and didn't like it much either, but the more I listened the more I grew fond of it.

My favourite song overall off of the album is Good Life 🤌🏽 It's so chill & I love the way Yangyang starts off the song 😍🔥 If I had to pick a "powerful" song, I'd pick Try My Luck 💯 I do love the way Phantom starts off, that haunted humming(?), it's so unique. It's truly not a bad track, but I do agree with you; I wanted more from a title track.

What I'll say about Phantom is that there is definitely Something missing. I also feel like Hendery wasn't able to shine as much. Other than that I really like the song and concept. For Diamonds Only, I personally think that the chorus doesn't really have title track energy, but the rest of the song has more of that WayV sound.

I personally loved Phantom, but I do get what you mean… As far as Diamonds Only, there’s always a WayV b-side loved more than the title track: Love Talk, Bad Alive, Action Figure

If WAYV didn't have such a long hiatus, I know in my gut I wouldn't have liked the song as much ngl... It IS a good song, but not their best, though ofc I am still excited for this comeback!!

I feel like this song has massive EXO vibes but it sounds beautiful in mandarin and ofc the members killed it! I think this is my favorite WayV mv now (even tho Moonwalk will remain my fav tt). They're my favorite subunit and have remained such even over the long break so I'm REALLY glad they're back and I think coming back with a completely different vibe is also cool. They just keep getting better and better!!

I appreciate your honesty bc you clearly know what you're talking about and aren't just putting on an act and kissing ass just to get clicks. I really like phantom sand prefer it to diamonds only but that's me. I think we can all agree though that it's about damn time they came back, you know so let's celebrate this album and wayv's return.

I 100% agree with the phantom remark. NCT have been my ult boy kpop group for about 3 years and WayV have definitely had a distinct sound but it lacked this cb. I think the instrumental could’ve been a bit more mysterious and experimental because this feels more like a halloween release. WayV also sometimes have an airy R&B element but it lacked that as well. The members worked hard and the song is good but I do agree with what you said. Whether Lucas being absent from the group has shifted the staple WayV sound idk but SM have done a bad job with the treatment of WayV nevertheless

Tbh I absolutely loved this comeback… I felt that this title track was a bit different but the elements of the instrumentals and the guys sound stamp was there. However, I loved Diamonds only even better… There were some parts in phantom that would’ve been perfect for Lucas… idk if anyone caught it but the lyrics for phantom seemed to address the Lucas situation and could have been an opportunity for his return but yeah…. 😢 Anyways regardless I still love this album and concept! This has been way overdue. Considering SME’s promotional schedule for last year, I think this album would’ve been a 2021 release instead. So I’m hopeful that we get some answers after this comeback. 😢🤞🏼🤞🏼

I think we were spoiled when the earlier title tracks are produced by Yoo Young Jin, Moonshine and LDN Noise. LDN have a b-side that i’m excited to listen to in part 2 but I agree I was whelmed with Phantom

It’s funny when you said that this comeback title track was not hitting the way it was supposed to as it’s what they came back after almost 2 years …because this comeback was planned long back. After kick back, this is what they were supposed to release as a group (probably after Jalapeño subunit) but the Lucas scandal messed it up. If you see the teaser images, you can see that some of them were shot during Kick Back time period (due to the hair colours) so basically if that scandal never happened we would have gotten this long back. Even the producers who worked on this album said on Twitter that this was planned wayyy back. They probably had to re-shoot mv/pictures because of the scandal.

personally i disagree about phantom (i think it’s my second favorite tt just under moonwalk) but i do see where you’re coming from. it also lacked the electric guitar breakdown that sometimes appears in their tts though it probably wouldn’t have fit too much in this song lmao. i’m very happy with the title track, but i felt the bsides lacked a bit compared to the tt and the kick back mini. all in all though, i still enjoyed this comeback!

I agree with you, I really liked the song but I feel like there is something missing, I think the verses lack some dynamics and the beat feels a bit repetitive at some point, I also wish they dove more into the orchestral vibe of the chorus with the strings and added that to other parts of the song, I wanted a bit more but I still really enjoyed it!

Ion know i personally like it because all the other songs on the album is like it screams wayv so to get like a softer title track kinda hype up the other songs on the album

I don‘t really know this group but I checked it out because of the title and I also felt like something is missing. I don‘t really know the WayV sound that you described but for me personally it didn‘t live up to the title if that makes sense :‘) I expected a more haunting sound (?) But I loved the outfits and uhh if someone can tell me the name of the member with white hair for scientific reasons…😳👉👈

I think it's just a more calmer wayv song (if you get what i mean) like it's not that boom feel

One more thing do not forget wayv is nct so the beat the structure will change sooner or later

I missed them sm(no puns intended)😭 I loved the chorus and bridge of Phantom but the rest was a bit weak imo. I haven't heard the bsides yet I'll make a comment for them later
