The control panel on a range is the part that allows the user to maintain and regulate various settings and controls. You may need to replace this part if your range isn't turning on correctly, turning off correctly, or basic functions are not working. Tools Needed:
-Needle Nose Pliers
-Quarter Inch Nut Driver
Step-by-step how-to instructions on replacing your control panel (part number WB27X22940) on a GE range (model number JB650SF4SS).
1.) Disconnect your range from its power source.
2.) Use your quarter in nut driver to remove the four screws holding your back panel in place and set it to the side.
3.) Locate your control board in the middle inside section of the range.
4.) Use your quarter inch nut driver to unscrew the four screws holding your control panel in place.
5.) Remove your control panel and gently flip it upside down outside of the range.
6.) Use your needle nose pliers to disconnect each wire connected to the control panel.
7.) Discard your old control panel.
8.) Take your new control panel, making sure to flip it over because this is how you have taken it out.
9.) First connect the small white wire into place, this makes installation easier.
10.) Use the color coated indicators on the back of the control board to reconnect the rest of the wires.
11.) Flip your control board back up making sure that all four screw holes are lined up.
12.) Use your quarter inch nut driver to re-screw in the four screws that hold the control panel in place.
13.) Use your quarter inch nut driver to reattach your back panel to the range.
14.) Reconnect your range to its power source.
This part may also work with other GE manufactured brands including Hotpoint and Kenmore.
