I think that Mic Cronin said EXACTLY the right things at this press conference. I am VERY PROUD that he is now the HC at my alma mater, UCLA.

Even though this was 11 years ago this is the first time I've seen this, and my left ear is very impressed with Mick Cronin.

Mick Cronin is the type of coach that's needed at EVERY school in the country! You can bet he will be on a lot of talk shows in the coming days for being a REAL coach and seeing the bigger picture.

This is a class coach. The officials have ruined 2 games today because of inaction or no calls that should have been called but weren’t.

My mom didn't get to go to college either. She was one of seven children my grandparents had. Despite the fact that they both worked hard to provide for them, which they did, they were lucky to even put food on the table and clothes on their back, let alone even send one of them to college. And worst of all, my grandfather unexpectedly passed away while my mom was in high school. Then my father only was able to afford ONE semester of college. So he had to go another direction job wise. So from me to whoever gets to attend college period, let alone play sports for said college that you go to, please consider yourself lucky and don't take it for granted. @whodeywedey4life Isn't it though? I thought the coach for Xavier almost seemed lackadaisical about it. I think he was more concerned with how he was going to deal with the suspensions. After watching both coaches, Cronin is definitely the type of coach I'd want my kids to play for.

personally I can't blame the coach, if my team was in a brawl that would make me face having to resign I wouldn't let my players here the end of it till the last news story about the incident comes out

Xavier's coach handled this about the exact opposite of Cronin. "They're great boys who just don't represent themselves well in front of a microphone". Grow up.

yeah, the Xavier coach didnt really care that much. i think mick cronins comments can go for any sport, any level , any school. i love his point where if you act like that, you dont deserve to wear your schools jersey.

I understand this coach if he tried calling a time out and the refs ignored him that's on the refs and the players. Also coach is right again all these guys are there to get an education most of these guys will not play in the pros, but again it's the glorification of the sport.

Mick Cronan said that he was embarrassed about them moving to a neutral court, because people admire him for this (the way he handled it), and what the media said at 2:30 was a lie.

I was impressed with his speech like many of you but then he turned around and gave light suspensions. only 4 games for punching someone who was just trying to break it up and the same punishment for the guy who stomped on him when he was down??? are you kidding me? he talked the talk, did not walk the walk

@lilcoz08 If you paid attention to the whole video you would know he said he told his team all week to not retaliate when they are provoked.

@lilcoz08 His players are not robots.His players not doing as he said doesn't mean they don't respect him. It just means that they let the emotion of the game get the better of them.

@rooooooby you must not have paid attention to the fight on saturday. What you say and what you do are completely different. If Cronin did speak to his team about this the week before the players obviously have no respect for him and obviously they shouldnt. He told them not to do something and they still did it and got minimal penalties for doing so. I have the same feelings for XU students and admin, I am only commenting on Cincy because that is what this video is about.

I thought the Xavier coach's post-game was ridiculous, especially compared to this one. Even if your team did play well, you don't even mention that your proud of their effort after they all get involved in a brawl like that. Cronin seems to 'get it' more, that this is unacceptable.

While Mack was the biggest dummy not counting his players Tu & Lyons who were totally stupid for their comments. Mick said I'm gonna decide who's on the team when he should have kicked guys off the team for that fight. Also Mack should have kicked some of his guys off their team as well. Mick said we represent colleges of hirer learning, that's the political answer when coaches only care about winning games that's the real truth.

he wants to speak like a teacher however hes paid like a professional basketball coach...did he ever make this speech to his team before this incident? doubt it, he probably talked about being competitive as a team and never backing down and his team responded by fighting as a team. Great speech, but if it were true he would have followed up with the proper supsensions which they didnt come close. He will still have a full team for almost all of the Big East schedule.
