I used to live in Sarasota back in the 90s, I bet it's changed quite a bit. I graduated from Booker High school, class of 96. Dang! I'm showing my age now 😂 Great episode Kevin 👍

I always used shape dividers to get over these overlaps, but this method makes more sense.

Shape dividers have the same issue as the other methods - only work when you use solid color backgrounds

Vulture Servers? I ran away when I heard this. They eat up your bandwdtih when you're not looking! Seriously though, great runthrough on dealing with overhangs on sections.

Not so new, been watching some videos from time to time since the beginning. I don't do it often since I more than often disagree with your way of doing things, design wise. :D Plus I just don't comment a lot, and I'm not a ACSS nor Frames user so there is many videos that are definitely not for me.

@@Gearyco haha, let's not start a fight. Let me just say that we're differently aligned, web design-wise, people, but I truly believe that there is more than enough place for both of us in this world, and we're both needed. I don't disagree with you on the 'this isn't correct, this design will hurt people!' level, I would just do the same thing differently, maybe in a less popular way. Not to say that you're doing something wrong, quite the opposite. My websites are just more... chaotic? Designer-ish? They often don't follow popular patterns, established schemes, etc. Of course, from time to time, I do the more grounded designs, but it's not as often nowadays. I just tend to accept projects that I know won't be harmed when my brain gets off the already well-established rails.

I partly relate. I create websites going from Figma (Design) to WordPress, including creative and unconventional layouts and sections. Hereby I often disregard these best practices such as CSS variables, because I need that creative freedom to change whatever I want. It saves me time and let’s me focus on creating the layouts themselves. Still, I agree that web development done correctly - meaning scalable and maintainable - is pure beauty when if comes to expanding or handing off your site. Respect.

@@llampp well... I still operate within some kind of system, it's just... my own, and each time different. I actually use variables a lot. Even though my layouts aren't conventional, the spacings, colors, font sizes are repetitive throughout the website, thus I incorporate variables. Either with, or without additional classes that use them. It's easier to maintain in the long run if you want to tweak one color across the whole website for example.

@@wittywolk Absolutely, I didn't mean that I never use variables, I just use them less often. I usually build without them and then unify everything in the end. In the end everyone has to find a system that works for him. Everyone's different and everyone approaches web dev differently. That's the beauty of development as a whole.
