Since you asked, here is my humble opinion. You guys have a great chemistry together. I love these junkyard rescue vids. Something going from total loss to driving again. It would be nice to see a total restoration. A bit of welding and few new parts this car could be saved. I know that this involves extensive work and funds. It would be totally worth it seeing it drive again.

Where I live, the provincial government auto insurance is making it more difficult to get older cars on the road even if body sections were fixed by welding in new panels. They do not want to see any repairs on rocker panels. This takes a lot of older cars off the road.

Some 30 years ago, I restored a Frogeye Sprite that was not as far-gone as this one. They were cute cars, but the cost in both time and money usually cannot compensate the fact that they were very badly designed and made. Best thing to do with most cars like this is to do what's being done here. Clean up as far as you can to try to make what's left last a bit longer, but getting them to roadworthy condition is very likely to cost far too much - more than they are worth.

You asked about the engine: If it's early enough, it might be a 948. Or a 1098cc. Doubt it's a 1275 (these were later Sprites and MG Midgets--after 1966 or so). Engine bay looks original and complete! Whoever gets this car will have some nice parts. Or the British Motor Heritage makes body panels for these little British cars. Great video and good luck to whoever gets this diamond in the rough!

However the cars you do leave a lot of questions as to what is going to happen next to them so your cut scenes talking about the machanical/ functional aspects of the car are a huge bonus to me. Don’t change a thing and keep on making the videos this way.

Personally, I love the "clean it up and get it running" vids. I'm into British cars so this one is especially fun! The engine in you car is an Austin "A" series 948cc 4 cylinder with dual SU carburators mated to a 4 speed transmission. That generation Sprite shared underpinnings with the MG midget, hence the resemblence to the Midget.

I think it’s a real shame to junk a car, especially an extremely rare Austin Healy, as it’s history and numbers and identification are forever lost. Were the money available, a heritage bodyshell could have given the car a new lease of life, preserving its story and history for years to come. Failing that, new sills, floorpans, etc are easily available from the MG Owners club and many other suppliers.

I combined a 1960 and a 1964 midget to make one runner many years ago. Engines are like a fine watch. 4 speed tranny are a blast to shift. Lever shocks require more maintenance. Positive earth electrical system is a challenge. Loved it as an everyday runner a couple of years. I’d come and get it in a heartbeat.

Great to see you reclaiming a classic. I had 2 Austin Healey Sprites in the 1970's a Mk3 which had the windup windows and the Mk2 which had the sliding windows, which yours appears to be. I think you guys can restore this Austin Healy Spirit. My brother Karl had one in the 1960s. He had just graduated high school. He and another graduate were celebrating graduation & wrecked on a turn. He was pinned under the Sprite while the friend was thrown clear with few injuries. My brother suffered a head injury, hip & ankle injuries & was hospitalized for months with lifelong complications requiring many surgeries. My family was devastated. He eventually married & lived a comfortable life in Maryland. I have very fond & loving memories of my brother and of the Austin Healy also. He was so proud of it. It was red

I've been rebuilding an earlier Sprite on my channel... it wasn't as rusty as this one though. I have really liked the newer style of videos. The added personality is really great in my opinion, and we get to see your thought process as you go along. Keep it up!

You guys do such a fantastic job detailing cars. As a watcher of several KZfaq old car channels, it would be so great if you could get these cars running.

My brother in law had one of these 30 years ago. We worked on it together sometimes. It’s just under 1000cc engine. The engine is so small that we could carry it, and the transmission bolted to it by ourselves, barefoot 😅. We put the engine and tranny in the car without a hoist. Great video as always. Thank you! 😊

A great little British sports car. Good to see it being brought back to life, even as a spare parts car.
