WDR BIG BAND & San Andreu Jazz Band / Joan Chamorro - Recado Boss Nova

2 жыл бұрынThe WDR BIG Band plays under the direction of Joan Chamorro "Recado Bossa Nova" (K: Djalma Ferreira, A: Alfons Carrascosa). Musicians of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band from Barcelona / Spain are also part of this concert. Solos will be played by Koldo Munné (alto saxophone), Elsa Armengou (trumpet), Gerard Peñaranda (trumpet), Alba Esteban (baritone saxophone), Stefan Pfeifer-Galilea (alto saxophone), Andy Haderer (flugelhorn), Raphael Klemm (trombone) and Mattis Cederberg (tuba). Livestream of the concert "Jazz mal anders: WDR BIG BAND & Friends" at the Kölner Philharmonie (May 2022).
The famous Sant Andreu Jazz Youth Band from Barcelona is also infected by jazz fever - the young musicians love jazz and will put on a brilliant program in their first joint concert with the WDR Big Band: Jazz is in the air!

Die WDR Big Band ist fantastisch - wie immer!!! Die Kooperation mit Joan Chamorro und den Jugendlichen der SAJB ist einzigartig! Joan gebührt der Preis des weltbesten Musikpädagogen! Wo sonst gibt es eine Schule mit so vielen, so guten und vor allem so begeisterten jungen Jazzmusikern, die so sehr lieben, was sie tun?! I've seen the WDR Big Band in youtube in countless musical events, it is definitely my favorite Big Band. But I've been following Joan Chamorro for some years too. He's played an important role in musical education of many young musicians (Andrea Motis, Eva Fernandez, Rita Payes & Magali Datzira just to name a few, adding these fantastic young musicians on the stage). And dispite being an amazing musician himself, Joan is so funny when he's conducting, looks like he's living every second with an outstanding enthusiasm, there's never a dull moment... Anyone who has been following Joan Chamorro and his young musicians for a while knows that "Recado Boss Nova" is one of the standards of the San Andreu Jazz Band and has already been interpreted on KZfaq with different casts. That's why it's a special performance in this constellation with the professionals of the WDR Big Band and raises the bar a little higher. respect👍

Great comment Hans. I've been enjoying SAJB for 5-6 years now and it's been a lot of fun and heartwarming to see the old vids going back to 2010 or more I think. When Joan puts them up I call them "family videos". As to WDR, consummate professionals, clear, strong, smooth playing. Great solos and precise in the movements. Easy on the ears for me at least, and a class act in their presentation.

@@dongaetano3687 Hello Don Gaetano. Yes, I feel the same way, and so it is a special pleasure to follow the "family videos", watching the pupils and students "grow up". Even if they all don't know me, for my part I would be delighted to meet these family members sometime. Joan Chamorro and his "kids" have been with me for several years and I have also followed their life journey after music school as individual performers. Simply great.

Irgendwann musste ja die Super-Konstellation mit den jungen und den älteren Musikern kommen. Habe echt darauf gewartet. Übertrifft für mich sogar die Version von Michel Legrand aus den 70ern. Hab Ihr nicht noch mehr Stücke zum hören und herzeigen.

Always a pleasure to hear this band, and these young people are a delight! Obviously hard-working kids with great guidance, resulting in a mature presentation that made me smile. (PS> I'm a drummer, and if I lived near this band, I'd be there at every performance to learn more about how it should be done, from Hans Dekker!) Thank you all so much for doing what you do!

Ecco, Joan Chamorro riesce a tirare fuori il meglio da ogni persona, e lo farebbe sicuramente anche in qualsiasi altro ambito. Mi viene da pensare invece a chi tira fuori il peggio, per esempio Putin....

Candidly I was rather non plussed. I really don’t see what saint andreu jazz band has over half a dozen youth bands I could think of.

One that comes to mind right off the bat is….MYJO. This multi award winning band won the BBC band competition an incredible 11 times. Played with people like bob Florence, rob mcconnell, Arturo Sandoval, Gordon Goodwin and Bobby shew to mention just a few. Recorded numerous cds but unlike saint andrau they don’t really have a strong online presence
