WDR BIG BAND

9 жыл бұрын

The WDR Big Band feat. Jacob Collier on piano with the track "I Wish" (C: Stevie Wonder; A: Torsten Maaß). Torsten Maaß conducts the WDR Big Band. Produced for the series "WDR Musikvermittlung" at WDR Studio 4 (May 2015).
For the program PlanM@Philharmonie, young musicians from 3 countries are guests of the WDR BIG BAND: multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier from Great Britain, trumpeter Chris Mehler from Germany and electric bassist Michael Pipoquinha from Brazil. Different personalities who have one thing in common, namely their extraordinary musical talent.

Maybe the guitar was added later. That room was photoed pretty well from all angles. Even saw Michael Pipoquinha in the background on occasion waiting his turn.

Nope, he is there. I see the guitar in the other video sitting behind a low cubical wall to the left of Michael Pipoquinha. I would have been disappointed if the guitar was added. Now I am happy.

The guitarist is sitting next to the bass player (on his right) - you get a glimpse of his head (and even the end of his guitar early on) over the top of the piano...

TheTragic123 I don't understand comments like this! When I see someone incredibly talented, it all the more INSPIRES me to work even harder on my instruments, instead of being discouraged. You're not Jacob Collier. Why limit yourself to him? You can do greater and better and different things than him yourself, if you want to.

I don't think its absolutely necessary to have a musical background and general knowledge of chord structures and harmonics to enjoy J. Collier. But it definitely gives you a larger appreciation for what he does. What he does is a lot farther out of the box than what is popular on the radio these days. Radio is too "safe" for someone like Jacob I think.

this drummer is great, grooves the whole thing foreword in a fashion that seems to be both light and heavy at the same time and in a very simplistic style which is always appreciated (especially during jacobs fantastic solo). good job!

I should have chosen my parents more carefully, Jason's mother, Susan Collier, is a music teacher, violinist, and conductor at the Royal Academy of Music in London.[3] Collier's maternal grandfather, Derek Collier, was a violinist who also taught at the Royal Academy of Music and performed with orchestras around the world. His father, Patrick Moriarty, is also a musician. Regarding the role music plays within his family, Collier says, "We sing Bachchorales together as family - it's just so much fun.

Jacob, this is truly awesome! You have combined so many of my favourite things here. Firstly I love the Wonder track, but then to create your own amazing voice rendition raises it by many levels. where from the 27 dislikes? :O Have they heard anything about music appreciation? Not a good thing to get stuck to only the things u know already, in other words try not to be old fashion. Listen wide, the art of listening... If u really listen, wether u r a classical fun or heavy metal head or whatever, even vocal harmony lover, if u listen well to the components and the harmonies and all that is going on in this music, u should be scared to hit the dislike button. Ask urself..,What did u do when u were at his age? Gabriel Faure wrote cantique de jean racin at age 19. This Jacob man is just DOPE!
