Was the Double Bass mostly doubling the Cello? I can see the double bass wasn't playing most of the way but when it was it seems to be playing the same part as the cello?

Hi, Jesús! Hi, Jesús! In Mozart's KV 407, you can use either a cello or a double bass - actually, the very first edition of the instrumental parts published in 1796 by Schmied and Rau included the bass part. It's more commonly played with a cello, but the double bass option has always been there. And sometimes, ensembles decide to go for both instruments for a richer sound - which we did here.
