@fleischpflanzerlmitsenf LED/RGB lighting is certainly an aesthetic choice that a lot of people add to at least a few parts to their PC setup, but water cooling can genuinely be useful in some cases. With the RTX 3000 and 4000 series being some of the most recently released and powerful GPUs commercially available, water cooling is gradually becoming more favorable over traditional air/fan cooling because it's more efficient overall and will keep all the components in your PC cool. Obviously water cooling isn't for everyone because you can still run one of the older RTX GPUs (like the 2080) at a completely comfortable temperature under fan cooling, but water cooling is gradually gaining more and more viability.

That is my point. An enthusiast will always find a way to justify things. It DOES make a difference how well you distribute the espresso in the puk. Even I can taste it when I have channeling. Aside I think this guy who created these videos is a genius. He buys these several ten thousand $ in coffee equipment and we pay for it by engaging on his channel. So he gets a lot back to finance his hobby.

On the flip side I find there's something therapeutic about standing there in the morning and stirring the coffee grounds around with my 3D printed tool and feeling out the clumps. My entire coffee setup isn't always dictated by price, but rather what brings me the most enjoyment while I'm making the coffee (and honestly, for 90% of the coffee gear I have, it makes 0 difference in taste, but a massive difference in my enjoyment of the process)

I would argue that these tools are, in fact, practical if you intend to use them in a cafe setting. Good WDT takes 30 seconds to a minute, so being able to pop one of these bad boys on top and just spin it would be beneficial to the barista that cares about quality and has ten orders that need to be made.

They're expensive because they're commercial tools meant to streamline workflow on the bar, and businesses will spend a lot of money if it can make them more money faster. Appealing to rich hobbyists, is just a nice side-effect. I'm not telling you how to spend your money, but as someone who's been working with specialty coffee for 7years, I'd recommend the $1 WDT tool and use the money you saved to get better coffee or some other thing that helps with keeping your tools clean.

This question that you posited reminds me of the reason why costume collectors go for hundreds of dollars-worth of latex and props. You can get just as much bang for your buck as dressing up with a Trick or Treat Studios Michael Myers mask. But mask collectors and people who get these things as part of their hobby? They want more than just "bang for the buck". They want a piece of artistry or something that's immensely satisfying to have in a collection. The issue begins when people try to make it off as though that their hyperexpensive pieces are better than another's. Same goes for hobby coffeebrewers who get the moonraker and things like that.

I can understand I guess if you get real enjoyment out of making AND drinking the espresso. For people who drink coffee this is nuts but if you think about it, people who genuinely enjoy cooking probably wouldn’t mind spending extra money to make their process easier or more satisfying.

Man I wish I could have that espresso gear, it'll tick all my OCDs. Do you think you could make a video explaining how many of those are cleaned and how often? Specially for those of us who don't have a dishwasher other than right hand and wrong hand?

In Vienna, home of the most distinguished coffee shops on earth, nobody is using any kind of comb. You put the coffee in the cup, then press it down, nothing else.

So, we understand that home espresso brewing and cafe espresso brewing are two ENTIRELY different things, right? I'm gonna assume you already know that and not explain the differences, because that's simply common sense. What I expect you may need an explanation on since you don't understand this, is that we understand MUCH more about coffee extraction and what happens when you push hot water through an espresso puck. There's nothing wrong with people abstaining from modern day espresso innovations, but it's important to understand that the innovations exist for a reason. It's quite well documented that distributing espresso in the portafilter simply produces better results every single time. To say that coffee should never be changed because it works well enough for you is simply moronic.

@@gavin2870 In Vienna, there are legends of coffee brewing like Cafe Central, Cafe Sacher or Cafe Hawelka. None of them use any kind of combs, none of them would waste that much time. They push the coffee down and that´s it. There´s a reason why Vienna´s cafes are world-famous. All you are doing is making a ceremony out of necessity. You don´t change the taste or the outcome. It´s much like the tea ceremonies of Japan. The tea is the same, with or without the ceremony

Is the coffee so much better after using a distributor? I'm asking because I'm a coffee enthusiast. I'm just using a tamper to make the coffee fit in the portafilter coffee machine and I think the coffee is great (Coffee Borbone Blue label from Italy and delonghi dedica machine).
