I tried but I could not become the man I was before the war. She ended up leaving me for another. My heart is still broken after all these years.

George Strait and I, both hail from south Texas and grew up on cattle ranches. He's has been a competitive calf roper for decades and he is the real deal and not "...all hat and no cattle." He has more #1 hits than any other American artist and has more top ten hits than any other as well. Every album, forty years worth, has been a hit. This song, I believe from his second album, "Strait from the Heart," was a big hit, at the time, early 1980s and was a great slow dancing song for us on the dance floor. George came along near the end of the "Urban Cowboy" mania with its silly big pastel colored hats covered with sillier feathers and worn with bedazzeled jeans. It was like the disco era with jeans and stupid hats. Like I wrote above, Strait was the REAL DEAL and young people like me and my friends who appreciated real country and western music easily gravitated to his Texas dance hall music. Y'all should try it. It's great fun. It is difficult to make one recommendation out of his dozens of hits but one that is important to me is one of his lesser hits, "The Man In Love with You" which is about a regular guy, not blessed with good looks and talent like Mr. Strait, who, like all real men, has a true heart and, though we hide it, have fear, sorrow and tears too. I urge y'all to listen to more and more George Strait.

This is kind of a "coulda, woulda, shoulda" song, and a nice tribute to a love from his past that he now sees he had and let go of. I love this channel! You guys are a great match! ❤

I love my rock and roll but George straight is a fantastic singer and has some good music/ my x wife and her husband and I all celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas together with the kids and grandchildren, it's not hard he treated my kids good and still does.

Love this song by George. Early in 1983 he lived here in my hometown if San Marcos, Texas. I ran into him at the local Kroger's grocery store. I wish cell phones were around back then but I did get his autograph and talked to him briefly. He went to college hear played in local venus, and even kept his tour buses here.

This song, Troubadour, and The Fireman are my favorites by George. You should check out his duet with Alan Jackson, Murder on Music Row

Hi Shawn and Mel, YAY George Strait! He is one of my favorite country singer. You will love this rabbit hole. He also starred in a movie you might enjoy called Pure Country. The movie and the sound track are really great. He started getting popular in the 80's but I think he really hit is stride in the 90's and early 2000s. Every song he made turned to gold.
