Just wanted to share some good fortune, inspired by you and your Dad. I was asked to design a piece of furniture for a boutique style furniture store here in Arizona. When I showed them the prototype. Before stain and finish for approval the lady made a comment how it was nice, for once to not have scribbles and lines and dimensions and a bunch of random pencil marks all over the piece of work. I recently started doing as you have taught, “leave no pencil marks”. The simple act of craftsmanship obviously made my work stand out from the crowd, and I actually won the bid. Thank you for your videos, and all The life lessons that you pass along to all of us woodworkers. Stay healthy!!!!

Hey Scott, try googling "camera armour", you can get lots of protective hard cases for DSLR cameras, in particular there are ones that have screw-on trumpet-like attachments that protect the lens since the lens-to-body connection is a weak point if you drop it. A more serious option is "camera cage", which may be a good idea anyway if you're using a DSLR as a video camera, I assumed it was a GoPro or similar. Camera cages include all sorts of options, mount points, stabilisers for handheld shooting, and obviously protection of the camera body.

@h2s Just out of curiosity I went to the California Department of Health Covid dashboard and the data I see there suggests a different picture. This site is the best one I have found to easily compare different states in the US.

rerolley Can I also point out, body of scientific work is emerging that shows our immune system is capable of remembering COVID-19 and producing a lasting immunity. It therefore starts to indicate that countries with high original infections are close to achieving herd immunity whilst those that have closed down (such as New Zealand) will still have to go through the pandemic once they open their borders. Some of the evidence: www.nature.com/articles/s41586-020-2550-z Researchers found that: * People with or recovering from COVID-19 displayed immediate memory T-cell activation to the virus’ proteins. * People with an infection history-going back as far as 17 years-of SARS-CoV-1 which emerged in China around 2002-2003, had long-lasting memory T-cell responses that ”displayed robust cross-reactivity to the N protein of SARS-CoV-2.” * And, perhaps most interesting, SARS-CoV-2-specific memory T-cell activation was found “in individuals with no history of SARS, COVID-19 or contact with individuals who had SARS and/or COVID-19.” The last point is certainly enough to give us hope. And yet more positive research emerges. www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.08.01.20166553v1 the response of antibodies-one of the primary classes of immune cells used to defend against pathogens-stayed active in saliva up to 115 days after the onset of symptoms in COVID-19 patients. Work on yet another kind of immune cell, the ‘helper’ T-cell as opposed to the ‘killer’ T-cell, was completed earlier in the year when several studies published in Nature and Science (www.worldatlarge.news/function-health/antibody-and-killer-tcell-found-for-covid ) found that the helpers could also, more than half the time, identify COVID-19 and sound the alarm, and that these helpers were present in patients that had never been exposed to COVID-19. The evidence of re-infection is, at this point, non-existent, which suggests humanity’s collective immune system is working well to combat it.

@@aeasthouse316 "our immune system is capable of remembering COVID-19 and producing a lasting immunity." I am sure that the 1000 Americans who died today and the 170 thousand who have died so far will take great comfort in hearing that. Oh, wait a minute, they can't hear it because they are DEAD. "Some ofyou may die, but it's a sacrifice I am willing to make," is said by Lord Farquaad

K Shred you always so morbid and negative? You must be fun having around. Gave you some good news, yes signs show we can get herd immunity and at least there won’t be 1 million Americans dying. So the good news if for the 99.95% Americans who still alive. I’m a 99.95% cup full sort of guy, you a 0.05% of bitter empty cup guy. More good news, you have room for improvement. Just go for it
@kshred3043
@kshred3043 4 жыл бұрын
@@aeasthouse316 I guess I have a problem with people who think that, because there are only 170 thousand instead of a million, 170 thousand deaths (and counting) is somehow good and an acceptable price to pay in order to achieve herd immunity. Especially because the New Zealand (and Chinese, etc) experience has shown that there is a better way. Extrapolating the NZ results (which is of course not that appropriate to do because the numbers in NZ are so small), if the US had followed the New Zealand 'go early go hard' model then it would have had only 22*330/5 = 1450 deaths. That is a factor of 117 less. Yes, the immunity studies are good news. But good news for herd immunity via a vaccine. It is morally and intellectually indefensible to use then to advocate herd immunity via letting the virus run rampant. It didn't have to be this way. I wonder if you will change your position if you or a loved one succumbs to the virus. BTW, I am not bitter. I love life and I want to continue to enjoy it without having it snuffed out by the selfish and the willfully ignorant.

Long time subscriber, first time commenter... I think. Here in Miami, Florida every other day you hear and see a store closing down. Miami and Ft. Lauderdale schools are starting virtual classes next week until October/ January. The rest of Florida is being 'orange' with some schools already opened face-to-face. Anyhow, I really enjoy the editing, music, and content of your videos. The majority of the homes here in south Florida consist of exterior walls made of cinder blocks, aluminum framing, maybe a steel post/ beam or 2, and 'timber' roofing. Our pressure treated wood is a dark moldy green instead of pink. Keep on keeping on and stay safe! Mauro

Have the plastic tabs snapped off the lens? It's fairly straightforward to replace the mount which is easy to get. 4 small screws and 2 very small ones, the mount pops off, replace and done If the camera mount is damaged that can be replaced as well.

I absolutely admire Prime Minister Ardern for her stern leadership and intellectual guidance in addressing New Zealand’s 🇳🇿 pandemic challenges. You are fortunate mate. Here in the states we have 170k plus deaths and our political clowns take no responsibility and impede science. Stay safe mate!!

Sorry but I have to disagree with you. Think she and others (Aus, UK) are butchering their economies preventing people from working who ARE NOT AT RISK. It’s the older people (none working population) that’s at risk. So the elderly and those working with the elderly needs protection, good medical PPE and isolation. People under the age of 60 who died due to Corona have other health problems and therefore are unlikely to be working. Be careful for the fear the media companies are spreading. For example, in NZ they had 22 deaths from Corona thus far, all of them above the age of 60. Why would these politicians cripple their economy’s by stopping people from working if they aren’t at risk? It’s madness. You may regret your view in few years time when the debt needs to be repaid. Government handouts are not free. I’m no Trump fan (ex UK, now live in Aus), but look at the data. Governments have lost the plot.

A Easthouse, I respect your point of view but the science and statistics in the US do not support your experience with the virus. The fastest growing demographic in hospitalizations and infections is that of school aged children and college aged students. Texas opened much to soon and disregarded the advice of scientists. We are now and have been one of the leading states in positive results and deaths. Our hospitals are overwhelmed and our “healthy” first responders are dying. As a nation we have over 5 million cases and over 170 thousand deaths ranging from age 5 to 90+. Our national economy is in shambles with no end insight. We are opposite to the world. Thanks for sharing your concerns. Much respect ✊

Roy Alvarez thanks for reply, sorry to hear it’s going so badly in Texas, good luck to you all and hope it comes quickly under control. I had a very quick look at the numbers in Texas and from what I see kids are not at risk. To date only 2 people under the age of 20 died in Texas. As to working age, (between 20-60years old), 94 deaths of 948 deaths, that’s 10% of the deaths. And we don’t know what the health condition of those people were. From global statistics, the number of people in the below 60 years of age, that have no pre existing health conditions (including diabetes, respiratory health issues, undergoing cancer treatment) is seen as an abnormality and very rare. To put that in perspective, in Texas there are 25 suicides for every 100,000 people, based on 29million people in Texas, that totals about 7,250 people each year, predominantly working age and mostly people under 25 years of age. Compare that with the 94 deaths of working age people who died of Corona this year. But you don’t see a daily count of suicides on TV each day. We don’t stop work or schools due to this. The Corona response is unproportional to what is actually happening. All fueled by the media not giving a breakdown of the numbers, making it clear that mostly elderly and ill people are at risk and that most people don’t need to stress or worry. Again my opinion and keep safe.

Roy Alvarez , just also thought I’ll make another comment on Arden. If I was from NZ I would have been very concerned about her and the new powers/legislation she got through without any public consultation. The government now has the powers, if they suspect you to have Covid, to enter your house (without a warrant or court order), and take you away (with force if necessary), and completely isolate you in a remote location of their choosing. You don’t have to be proven to have the virus, merely on suspicion. Therefore, if you say anything they don’t like, or you are a political opponent, they can simply claim you have the virus and lock you away. World leaders are getting crazy. Not just NZ. I hear some crazy stuff in America as well. Not good.

Tile underlay is supposed to be installed with nails and no glue. This is to allow for movement in Sydney Australia the sheets come printed with the nail pattern and instructions do not glue. But after 24 Years as a carpenter i prefer to glue and either nail or screw. Disclaimer your area and climate conditions, new or old house or making sure your work is to spec or is to get certified dont be stupid check before installing.

Before your channel gets really big... I would like to suggest that you should do more "how to" carpentry. There probably isn't much to explain in demo but when building that'd be awesome to get constant tips. Maybe you already do this but I haven't watched enough yet. Greetings from the U.S.

Hi Scott! Great video and sorry about the camera. However, you have bought a great camera and moving to full frame is amazing. The EOS R is such fun to use and I would get a few primes 35mm or 50mm & 85mm and you'll love it even more. If the budget stretches get the RF glass it is amazing and the RF 24-105mm f4 L is pretty damn good.

Cheers man. Yeah I'm loving the camera so far. I have ordered an EF 16-35mm f4 for the majority of what I do and I am looking at getting some sort of medium zoom for those close up shoots. Would an 85mm prime work well instead? Also that RF glass is pretty tempting but it costs more than the camera 😂
