I live in a western country. My landlord is a very nice Portugese man 60 years of age now. He married very early to his childhood sweetheart around 20 years of tender age. But she got caughted cheating on him. From there, he had downward spiral and had just had high amount of flings and one night stand with a lot of women. Even when he had some healthy relationship, he did not wanted to commit it towards marriage. Now, he is living alone with nooone as a partner. He do try looking for 'younger' women as partner but all are just there for his money. I see him drinking and smoking each day and depression in his life is very real. And this I had observe is majority of the issues in these western countries. Even developed traditional asian countries like Japan having massive problems as people have stopped having relationships and are depressed. So in a nutshell, while there are some good things we can imitate from western countries, there are a lot of baggage which comes with it which we need to straight away discard like promiscuity.

Polygamy India में शुरू से ही थी, ये western culture नहीं है. बस अब ये modernized हो चुका है. उसमे पहले partner से बिना अलग हुए दूसरे partners भी बनाए जाते थे. Divorce का कोई concept ही नहीं था. हमारे जितने भी प्राचीन kathaye हैं, पुराण व महाकाव्य हैं उनमे एक से अधिक partner रखने की बातें बहुत normal हैं। Divorce western culture से आया है जहाँ आप एक साथ 2 partner के साथ नहीं रह सकते, अगर आपको अलग रहना है तो Divorce लेना ही पड़ेगा। भारत में तो Divorce लेना पाप है।
