FYI, this is a music festival in Belarus, where he performed as a guest. He did compete on the Slavic Bazaar in a previous year (and won), but was not competing in this performance. Dimash was on a singing competition in China in 2017 called “The Singer” where professional singers compete. He was added as a wildcard and performed first on the first night of competition (singing SOS). His performance was so spectacular that it shot him to overnight super stardom in China. The video was viewed over 600 million times. He came in 2nd in the competition because at the time only Chinese citizens could win. They changed that rule the following year. BTW “SOS” is a French song that was written for a rock opera in the late 1970’s.

"Stranger" is excellent. There are soooo many. ALL are amazing, astounding, whatever superlatives you can think of. I am 81 and I am a huge fan/Dear of Dimash. "Daybreak" is unlike any of his other songs. The story in Daybreak is based on a tragedy that took place in China. A writer/poet? adopted an orphan from the tragedy and wrote the words which became the song Daybreak. The words are from the viewpoint of the orphan who saw his parents die! Dimash learned to sing the song in chinese language and performed it in China. Pulls at your heartstrings. There is a ton of info online about his childhood, musical training, family, etc. You've got a ton of awesome listening ahead of you with Dimash. Enjoy! Sheila
