History is history and it is important to know where you come from, but the Agona people of the Central Region have evolved for over 400 years through wars and intermarriages between other Fante states and have become Fantes,We are living on Fante land and speaking Fante with our culture and traditions just as other Fantes.We are all Akans and have Akan names.The name Agona originally came from Denkyira before Asante was created in 1701.What the Agona people of the Central region are saying is that they don’t want to be subservient to another tribal leader because their paramount chief is independent.He doesn’t need to swear allegiance to any other tribal leader.There is nothing wrong with tracing your roots but going back to swear allegiance to another tribal leader after over 400 years doesn’t make sense.

Going to Worawora and Kumasi is not necessary.I am a native of Nyakrom.Our ancestors migrated from Kwaman long before Asante was created in 1701 .This is 21st century Ghana.We are now a different group having been assimilated by Fantes for hundreds of years. We even speak Fante.Let’s focus on how to develop Nyakrom.I will contact you very soon in this regard.For example,the people of Accra who are called Gas migrated from Yoruba tribe in Nigeria but they wouldn’t go to the Yoruba king in Nigeria after three hundred years to reconnect with them .We can all trace our roots only for historical references.
