California native Rod Emory was seemingly born to build custom Porsches. His grandfather Neil was a hot-rod pioneer who also ran the body shop at one of Southern California's first Porsche dealerships before starting his own Porsche restoration business. Rod's father, Gary, ran Porsche Parts Obsolete, a legendary supplier of rare Porsche Parts, for almost 40 years. It was in the back of Gary's warehouse that Emory - at the age of 14 - began restoring a 1953 356 and upgrading its performance for vintage racing.

And, @ 0:05….nobody is asking him, “say, what ya do for work ” …. Lol, makes for a good story though. Just the same, stunning cars and outstanding work. And, cause I’m a bit of a curmudgeon, seeing those 356’s up on his shelf, waiting for millionaires, to pay upwards of 300k for one of these….that’s partly why they are going for 100k plus as a barn find, and why I drive a 914 instead. Amazing how porch designed the VW Beetle, tremendous sales for a people’s car. Actually poor layout , opposite to Perfect layout of Morris minor. Rear Aircooled engine so wrong but cheap therein success

Porsches were never built to be a Museum car. Cars are meant to be driven not looked at. When Porsche built race cars from the eleven chassis left over, was that a cannibalization?
