A quick tip on your u joints, after driving the truck, when you park it. Crawl under and feel the u joints at drive shaft. A properly working ujoint (not binding) will be cool to the touch. A bad u joint will be much warmer than the others.

Good morning. On your truck check the driver side motor mount they are bad about braking on the 4wd trucks. You can put it in gear and brake with your left foot and the motor will raise up. Hope this will helps. I really like your videos and watching you and your Dad working so good together. You are living your best life and don't know it yet!

On your vibration, if you see any powder around seals on the U joint its bad. Best bet is to drop the driveshaft off the pinion and make sure the joint is free moving in all directions. And doesn’t bind. You could also have a pinion barring on the rear end going bad. Check the 90 weight in it for metal flakes. Had this problem on my Ram. Warranty covered it luckily.

Due to my profession as a high school science teacher, I am inclined to think Triple-R-Farms has the BEST fuel trailers. Keep your Thunder something or other fuel trailers, I appreciate the simplicity of creating a straight up pressure differential to move the fuel. @@TripleRFarms I would have to offer that the design could possibly experience issues in a northern climate. A desiccation filter would possibly need to be added to the air line to keep condensed water from freezing. Ever have that happen during a cold spell in Alabama?
@allenmoore418610 ай бұрын
Daniel, I had a Chevy it went to making a noise. You could not move the driveshaft but,the needle bearings was bad because they didn’t have any grease fittings. Cheap change just to see if the noise goes away. It workers for me maybe it will work for you.

Rear end noise: Pinion bearing in the differential may be worn and need replaced. If backlash for your rear differential was not set correctly (approximately .0004) with the right number of shims, then this would cause incorrect pre-load on the bearings and leads to premature wear and noise. Solution: open rear differential and replace all three bearings and set backlash correctly with new shim-pack.
@scotthodgen564710 ай бұрын
Your rear differential definitely has too much play in it. Open rear differential and replace pinion bearing, axle bearings (two each) and new shim pack. Install correct amount of shims to get correct amount if backlash (around .0004"). Your local Chevy/GMC mechanic can easily fix this problem. Cheap parts (three bearings and new shim pack) and new diff-fluid. 😊👍

First I had Ford pickups, then 5 GM pickups in a row brand new(I'm old). Had a lot of problems with splines drying out on the transmission shaft and the rear-ends. When the warranty was about up, the truck got traded in on a new one. Now I drive a HD Ram pickup and it's been great except for the recalls. But I'm not paying for the recalls, so that's OK.

Have them check your transmission tail housing bushing on your truck . Great looking very clean corn . Also have you tied a chain to the combine to help the dust on your cab windows, it helps with the static electricity which makes the dust cling to your glass Old trick we use in Florida Came by to visit on the way to Illinois for the Half Century of Progress show in Rantoul . Pinion bearing, pinion tooth broke or ring gear tooth broke is the problem if it was a u-joint it would vibrate in reverse also and also clunk when you put it into gear. Hope it doesn’t cost you very much to repair or it’s still in warranty on the drive train. Good luck.

To add to my last comment regarding your drive shaft, you have a steel u joints cap in an aluminum shaft, corrosion can develop in-between the two metals and cause a similar noise. Up here in the mitten state with the salt and road grime it's a huge problem,I also ran into this when I lived in Florida.
@j.t.johnston304810 ай бұрын
Corrosion isn't a problem here in Alabama like it is in salty areas. I doubt there would be anything like that going on with his u-joint.

take drive shaft down and see if it rotates free if it does not it will cause a noise and or a vibration
@JR-lb4ng10 ай бұрын
My two cents worth is, it’s in the pumpkin and not the u-joints. I’m thinking it is possibly the ring and pinion worn out
@jeremyminten781210 ай бұрын
You will need to unbolt the driveshaft and try to move the ujoint by hand. It will be tight (bearings seized). It will cause a vibration under light acceleration up to about 50mph and then it will disappear.
@chrishunt572710 ай бұрын
Backlash in ring and pinion is your probable cause of noise. You shouldn’t have that much play in the differential

As for your vibration,didn’t you just put on a new set of tires here lately? If that rear end ain’t been into and you don’t shock load it all the time then the only thing that’s changed is the tires. I wonder how long after you put those tires on did your vibration start. Also when you checking U joints you’re not strong enough to check that joint just by pushing up and down on that drive shaft. Get a pry bar like that one you got a while back and check for slop. If the cross is seized in the caps that pry bar will find it. Rotate them tires criss cross if they not directional and see if it changes. I’d do a lot of looking before I went to a dealer. Just my two cents for what it’s worth. Enjoy y’all’s videos and look for y’all every time I come that way.
