This whole series is such a testament to the bond that can form when a dog is truly cared for and about and has a purpose. Leo was not welcomed in his first home, is my understanding from a previous video, and here he is joyous and joyful. I know we only see the highlights, but he also seems beautifully trained and well-behaved. I love this relationship.

My memory of that picnic shelter- there used to be a retired police officer in the area that did trail magic to the three shelters there and along the roads. He was amazing. Along the road late in the day he offered me a cold drink. When I jokingly said you don't have any choc. Milk do you? Of course he didn't but the next AM there at the picnic shelter was a cold chic milk. I knew who it was from. God bless the trail angels!!!

Snakes! Western Diamondbacks here in Eastern Washington's high desert. Makes my hiking a bit nerve wrecking at times. Looks like you two really enjoyed the lake. Thank you for your posting efforts.

I think Leo was trying to save you every time you would dive under the water ❤ my grandson’s golden doodle does this if he thinks you need help in the water. He’ll grab you by the hair and try to pull you to safety. 😊

I’m glad you & other hikers are really watching out for those snakes! Leo really enjoyed that swim break as much as You did! Bears are awesome & kind of scary! I live next to an animal sanctuary so I have the occasional one home through the back yard! Two pieces of advice, I am sure you know, be extremely cautious near a mama bear & her cubs! And try not to Run from a bear, it will chase! Most wild bears are as afraid of You as you will feel about them! 😀

That was a huge copperhead. Im starting a LASH at Pine Grove furnace north bound in a week or six. Im sure Ill see a few snakes in the rocks soaking up the sun. You and Leo are killing it. Thanks for sharing your journey.

That was a fun video. I bet the lake was great. Leo was so cute.As soon as he saw your back turned, he was swimming over to you. I especially liked when we looked like a bucking horse for a second 😂. Then just like kids, he didn't want to leave the beach. He's pretty tall when you see him next to you. With that heat you need some ice cold kool-aid and cold watermelon. ❤ Way to go on 3 months. It doesn't seem that long, but Im not hiking, Im just watching. Lol ✌️🫶 ❤to Leo

The good news is if you don’t step directly on a snake it won’t bite you! I’m amazed at how well you and Leo are doing! I know he’s really well trained. A couple dogs have been lost out there this year, one was recently found 😊 Stay safe and hydrated!

Really enjoying following along with you and Leo. Sounds like you need some electrolytes. Just drinking more plain water will just flush you out faster and make dehydration worse. The swim was nice!

This was my section growing up and in Boy Scouts. Spent a loti of time here. There are A LOT of bears here.

Three month mark is definitely an accomplishment. Way to keep hiking on. Glad you are focusing on hydration and snake-awareness. Today, I am using you for some self motivation: "If Michael and Leo can hike for 90 days, YOU can clean up what was left in the space under the old dishwasher." I'm not saying I'm not a little scared, though. Honestly, I might find a bear in there before you find one on the AT, the way they have been avoiding you. The view before the lake was beautiful.

I always found copperheads to have more of a attitude, a willingness to “bring it on” than a rattler. That said, snakes are incredibly vulnerable and respond to defend themselves. I respect them and don’t bother them, just like you. You are in their home after all.

Depending when (day) you will get into NH. (I work a perdiem job and if i am not scheduled to work), I would love to meet up with you in Hanover NH (i think that is one place where the trail goes in NH) to treat you and Tyler (if he is with you then) to lunch/ dinner…. whatever your timing will be. Also could get you to resupply or bring you wherever you need to go. I have an SUV so there is room for gear and Leo.

Hiking Tip: Always carry a small bottle of whiskey with you in case you get bit by a snake. And always carry small snake.

Ok… snakes… I really do not like snakes. Can snakes get in your tent?? You said you were on super high alert for the snakes. Good. That’s the one thing that I am fearful of and it come from a good reason. I lost a dog and almost $4000 because of a rattlesnake nest. It came totally out of the blue. I still hike! Lol and it won’t keep me from hiking, but … Anyway, just keep your alert up. I bet you did enjoy that swim in the lake!❤❤❤❤❤
