Prob cause her parents treated her that way for most of her childhood and teenage years until they finally had enough and kicked her out. This woman knows nothing about the real world and its sad. What she is doing to this family though is disgusting. I'm glad they got rid of her. Nightmare fr.

Lol. My mom started having me make my own lunch at 6 when I started full day school. I was pretty independently making my own breakfast by 8-9, including using the stove. I am extremely grateful my parents did that because it allowed me to learn those skills while I was living with them so that when I moved out on my own, I was able to cook for myself confidently. Teaching your kids life skills from a young age isn’t abuse, it’s good parenting.

At nine years old my youngest would make her own breakfast. She did not want my help. When my oldest was 13 she fixed a London Broil on the BBQ pit I had on her own. My youngest always got up before I did, and got my coffee made so when she woke me up I could have a fresh cup of coffee right away. Now they are grown both of them are excellent cooks, and bakers. They will both thank me from time to time for teaching them, and then allowing them room to fix foods, and even make mistakes. If they messed something up they cleaned it up as best they could.

I get it they like to help people so do I but letting a homeless stranger is dangerous especially with children in the home I helped a girl I used to go to school so she and her kids had roof over their heads, but I really regret it because her kids were violent towards each other and really taught my daughter some horrible violent behaviors after the mom got out of the hospital from surgery she brought a guy into my home that I had never met before so I kicked all 4 of them out the boyfriend was expecting me to to feed all 4 of them including myself and my child and I told the boyfriend of the girl I let stay with me that I need a break from cooking because for a month I was cooking for her and her kids he told me that’s part of being an adult and so I took my daughter and went to the dollar store and he was disrespectful in not cooking for me and my daughter as well even though I open my door to his girlfriend and her kids

I can't see inside this couple's home but I do know that I could get my own breakfast by the time I was 6 years old. This wasn't because my parents couldn't or wouldn't fix it for me, I wanted to. They had taught me how to. It's a natural and good thing to teach your child self sufficiency. I also remember having a couple of accidents well past the age of being potty trained. Doesn't everybody? I was embarrassed and my parents were sympathetic but they told me what to do to help myself when that happens. Most kids don't want an adult's help with accidents, they're not babies anymore. Helping your children to help themselves is not abuse.

I don't totally agree with the comments here. There might be some validity to it. You don't know unless you lived there under the conditions. I know it's not easy raising six children in a smaller house pair they may be neglected in some ways. Anyway it's not the most intelligent thing to invite a homeless person into your home right or wrong.

@@tishwitch There are several comments on this thread like your's that read as if good parenting will keep people from ending up being homeless. I think it's good to remember that sad circumstances can happen to everyone. Even those who come from fortunate, well rounded and stable backgrounds. Not everyone who lives in a tent is ungrateful and unstable. But I also agreed that if one does find themselves handed the help that this woman did, it should be taken as a blessing and a responsibility; to be used and then to be passed on. Not to be taken advantage of as it was in this case.

@@raea3588 oh I'm more than aware. I'm a single mom who barely covers her bills. And my parents are addicts and thieves who would continue stealing from me had I not left and just found my own way. I get it deeply. Teaching your kids to appreciate what they have is a great lesson. I don't see why you're harping on me about it. A lot of choices people make do lead to their lives collapsing: like it's always a bad idea to shoot heroin... Even the oops first time is an epic bad call. No one wants to fall on hard times but a lot of times we can avoid it by valuing what we have and valuing our own lives. That's all I mean. Do some people fall into addiction because of chronic pain and other health conditions absolutely. But sometimes it's because of poor choices. And it's those times where it would have surely helped to have a supportive environment to grow up in, where you don't choose unhealthy options.
