Kids now a days don't know what a proper kids tv show is, we had so many classics that we are still talking about them years later, what have these youngsters got that they will be talking about years later,
@scottishwildcat Жыл бұрын
Nonsense. Every generation of kids remembers the things they did and watched just as vividly as we remember the things we did and watched. There was also a huge amount of dross on TV when we were kids that we've long forgotten.

I would have been fifteen and remember the programme very well, especially the theme. Ron Pickering, one of the voices of my adolescence. I bet some of the competitors were the same age as me!

@@TheFusedplug I used to love watching We are the Champions when I was young. I never went on it nor did anyone else from my school; as far as I’m aware we were never invited to participate. There was a “finals” episode from 1984 on KZfaq with Duncan Goodhew as guest, but it appears to have been taken off for whatever reason. It was filmed at Wilmslow leisure centre. This is very close to the train station (you can see it as you pass from the train) so about three years ago I went there and had a swim. It hasn’t changed in 35 years! One member of staff I got talking to actually remembered the program being filmed and they spoke to Ron Pickering! Amazing eh?

How many after watching this have tried to find former contestants on social media? Or, on the other hand, how many former contestants have suddenly seen themselves from 30-40 years ago and made themselves known?

Talk to any of the staff there and they haven’t got a clue what you’re talking about with things like this and even more recent comedies like Only Fools & Horses, Hyacinth Bucket, The Brittas Empire etc.

@@nigelkthomas9501 Nigel I was born in June 1970 (52 last month) and so just eight months older than you. Sports Direct is an ideal place to buy sports clothing as the merchandise is cheaper to get. I am a cricket person and over the years have bought flannels, jumpers and shirts from my local Sports Direct. I once bought a pair of cricket boots for 20 quid!
