oh my gosh, this happens all the time!!! people see me and think 'oh, she's asian' so they assume I'm chinese then after a while when I get the chance to tell them my ethnicity, they're always surprised like 'oh, I didn't know you were Malaysian, I thought you were chinese' also I get so many people asking me if I speak Chinese or any asian language just cus I look asian but I actually had a very white childhood and am not very connected to my cultures
