HIGHLY RECOMMEND YELLOW COVERS FOR YOUR LED SPOTTIES! or yellow tint the covers you get with your LED spotties! Especially if you're using the bigger round ones! driving 100's of kms with bright white light is more fatiguing for your eyes than yellow lights! Yellow covers are also so much better for dusty/dirt/foggy roads too! Same bright light, just way better for your eyes! also looks better when parked at bunnings in a sea of white LED spotties!

Funny story, i've a 1984 range rover, it's a beat up dog of a car. It's not the best off-roader, it's not the worst, it's just adequate, certainly, with good tires, i can't complain. I got it back in 06 with not one, not two, but three light kits installed (bar and two spots under the front bumper). They never worked. I never bothered to repair them, never bothered to take them off either. That's my TED talk, i think that you don't need lights, and that a good pair of headlights is more than adequate, luckily, my RR has two per side. I can see, everything. 2 cents.

Accidental as it may be, you did right with the smaller lights on the bullbar. Here's why: 1) big lights block radiators, many times those big lights are simply a quick way to overheating. 2) winching - the smaller lights work excellent was 'work lights' for winch - if you're pulling some backwards, with big lights all they see is one, large bollesk of light, with work lights it illuminates the work space without blinding participants and 3) those huge lights are for driving at high speeds in dark spaces - they illuminate a mile in front of you... so high mount is key for range....... good job! being lucky is the same as being good.

Came from the NFSU and NFSU2 era as a Teen, LOVED the Fast and Furious first few installments, and have forever had a love for the JDM & Commodore Scene. Lowering, Big Rims, Exhaust & Sound Systems and just about everything the MCM boys have ever covered. Now at age 30, I was M00g 3 years ago, trading my VZ Calais in for a RA 3.0 T/D Rodeo, and haven't looked back. As stated in the 4x4 Christmas special, it IS a different kind of fun; just slow down and enjoy the scenery! If I want loud noise, speed, low to the road fun cornering, I'll take out my 5 speed '91 CS Seca Liftback, complete with sound system & w0g cannon. But I've now owned a handful of 4WDs/4x4s and I'll never ever look back, nothing quite like getting off road & out into nature. 4x4 Culture is brilliant overall, unfortunately however, unlike anything; there will always be a small handful of idiots, that ruin it for the rest. At the end of the day, I hope You MCM Boys get out in Your 4x4s over this Christmas Summer break and have some really fun trips/camping sessions. It's just SO brilliant to see Moog SO keen on the 4x4 culture, continually claiming Mighty Car Mods is now a 4x4 Channel LOL! Keep up the good work boys! Just a couple of tips on the winch. 1. Don’t expect too much from it as it’s tiny and seems to have a shoelace for a rope. 2.attach the hook to the top of the bull bars BEFORE you get stuck as digging your winch hook out of the ground before commencing recovery is a painfully slow way to get to the point where you realise your winch is too small. 3. Get rid of the toy winch for a twin motor warn 8274 at least.

Real overlanding is like Aussie hiking, you're expected to be gone off-grid for a long time and the "trail" is expected to be extremely easy. Whereas "offroading" tends to be more day trips with difficult trails.

Here's some tips...use light bars on the bumper instead of that big ones. That way you don't block the air flow. Those big ones could be mounted on the A pillars with a directional mount. So you can point them to the side of the road. Plus use a customs bigger fuel tank, you going to need it.

Individual lights, so oldschool! It's all about light bars now so the unintentional change was fortuitous. A proper light bar though is a long single low profile thing, well worth it though.

Overlanding is when you set up a 4x4 for camping and long haul "exploring" where you can basically live in and off the vehicle for weeks if not months. Off-road setups are generally more crazy build in terms of capability however they arent really suited to living in (not saying that you can't) Example would be a Ute (Hilux, Navara) make excellent overlanding vehicles as they have the tray, leaf springs and IFS suspension which makes they really well suited to long drives and carry capability. A Jeep Wrangler is smaller however with solid axles front and rear they are exceptional at extremely difficult tracks but suck in terms of carry capability and being able to comfortably spend months living in :) Not saying that a Jeep cant be used in overland or a hilux wont tackle difficult trails, just they are better suited at doing different tasks.

It goes to show how spoiled us Freedom boys are with our massive engines. In most countries, a 2.0L 4 cylinder is a relatively large engine, but here it's often the standard or base model engine in a lot of compact cars. And yet we still aren't satisfied. I hope that wrecker got their comeuppance for selling you an obviously garbage engine and giving you the run-around.

FYI in Aus for a legality reasons spot lights and light bars need to be on the high beam circuit and also have a seperate on/off switch. They can only be under operation when the high beams are in use. Unless it’s like a hunting/roof mounted light which is supposed to have a light blocking cover when not in use.

A friend of mine had the 1.3, and being a Pro welder (worked for the Toyota Racing team for a while), he made his own snorkel, tuned the motor, spent thousands on a BIG jack up kit (including springs/dampers etc etc), cut/welded the wheel arches/fitted new arch plastics, winch (obviously), lights on the front thus giving extra light at bonnet level, but also a powerful light bar on the roof (to get a better light spread from above) then some huge ass wheels with big thick f#ckoff nobbly treads (if memory serves, even the height from ground to top of tyre was about 3 foot, so some MAJOR lift stance lol, and this thing was nigh on unstoppable! His mates who had a off-road converted Discovery, and another with a standard Land Defender 90 (just fitted with chunky nobblies), got stuck in a coupla places, this thing just winched them out and soldiered on like a right trooper! hahaha. Just got to the setting the car up with 'go gear'. My friend had also replaced the alternator for more charge power and thus installed a battery with nigh on double power the standard Jimny battery has, for the exact uses you mentioned, charging your rechargeable devices, overnight camping etc etc So enjoy guys! 😊😎🇬🇧

People are getting into 4x4'ing because they have a bunch of disposable income to use on pretending they're tougher than they are. It's tosh that 4x4'ing is about 'getting away from it all', since no 4x4er will go bush without their drone, GoPro's, phone, laptop, etc etc. There are also heaps of utes cruising the suburbs in absolute mint condition, adorned with every possible ARB mod including mud tyres; none of which has ever seen a dirt road let alone the bush. It is 'sex spec' for the 2020's. The difference between then and now, is that the 4x4 utes are bloody huge and struggle to fit in any underground parking lot. The truth is that a 2WD corolla from 1989 will make it to the camp site just fine, the rest is just marketing, sold to you on the dream of getting your fully decked out ute bogged with a broken winch line and snapped CV axle up a remote track.

Okay boys, here's what overlanding is. You turn your off roader into essentially a. mobile cabin, that is self sufficient for multi day off road acentures, and exploration. Essentially a small, off road, self contained caravan, built into and on something like a Hilux. Wife and I run a 91 Chevrolet K 2500, solid axle swap up front, 12 valve Cummins, NV 4500 5 speed trans, and a gear driven t case, with an Atlas splitter. Convrrted a fiberglass cap, kitchen in the bed, along with cold storage, water, and other gear, tent and awning up top. It's also our tow rig, and we rarely use hotels when transporting bikes and cars for customers, when we don't need the F 350 and gooseneck hauler. Both go west every spring for Easter Jrep Safari in Moab Utah, hauling our CJ 8, and friend's jeeps for a week of trail rides and rock crawling. UUsually soend a week in Colorado or Iowa on the way back as well.
