I had a 1986 Hydrostream Vegas XT with a 200XP Evinrude... Built out the motor and tuned the hull... ran her up to 120 MPH!!!! Get he past about 40 and she lifts out of the water!!!

Nice. Ya. Mr.1142 got it right. They are more than grooves. It is a tunnel hull, or a "modified V" hull. Made to pack air at speed and lift the boat for less water friction. Its a speed boat fun for the whole family....pretty badass there my dude.

Thanks for the info ! I hope it performs well on a whole day at the lake so we’ll see how it goes !

Its a hydrostream voyager xt. The xt has the groovs in the bottom you pointed out. They help it fly stable at high speed and run like its on tracks. This boat can go 90s with a 225 on it. They also have a rep for getting a waterlogged core so the floor should be redone if it hasn't already

Years ago a buddy had one similar but older, had an inline 6 150 Merc. Same time I had a Checkmate with a V-6 150 Merc. Fun times, you found a cool old boat!

I've watched some "Weekends on the Water" KZfaq videos from Florida. The guys down there are crazy about Allisons and Hydro Streams. They do Club runs and Drag races with them. Good find.

You don't have any idea what you have their do you? In the 80s and 90s that was one of the fastest boats on the lake. I had a Baja that would run almost 70 mph and I wouldn't even went after that boat. If that boat has the 175 or the 200 horsepower Black Max and is setup right it will run close to 100 mph. Be careful and I'm speaking from experience those boats will hurt you even kill you in a Split Second no. That is no joke specially if it's not setup properly. I would check all the steering cables, all the mounts and anything that possibly could go wrong.

Thanks for the warning

Yes very popular boat because they go scary fast. Worth restoring. Keeping it original of course. Even the teak wood. Does need powered jack, low water pickup and hydraulic steering.
