The weakest link on them 300's are the rear axles. Many of us upgrade the axle with a whole trx250 rear axle assembly. The stock 300 rear axle in my opinion is good for light trail riding on stock size tires. I'm sure if you did a trx250 rear axle swap and got a gear reduction , replaced tie rod ends , ball joints , wheel bearings and brakes , you'd be very pleased with the ATV

ill give all that a shot on the next 300 I buy. this one is no longer with us since I busted the cases on it
@BIGSLUT69ERHEAD2 жыл бұрын
I did that upgrade to my 300 to n can say is worth the money when my oil needs changed it just turns dark n viscous like it should not all muddy n milky n white the 85 250 big red rear diff is the one I bought for mine bought used n checked pinion n still was tight asf i don’t think they go often unless ran w bad bearings either, if u keep the rubber seals greased on the ends of axle tubes really helps keep the water out nkeep oil golden even after gone for a swim if were a water / mud bike probably would still pack side tubes with grease still tho if u tryna make one to

I have a 99. It is bone stock with the exception of tires and the seat. It is still running to this day. It's not been babied, either. We use it to do things it wasn't meant to. I.E. It pulls a 1500lb load of firewood better than my 2017 Foreman 500.

You seriously thought you were going to do well with those tires and rims and no gear reduction?

Might be different but I got a Honda rancher 350 and that things been used since I was little and it's all stock and 4wd and nothings ever happen to motor we also pulled small tractors and trailers with it and trees had clean carb once but that was it and we use race it when I was little

I think the rear diff is breaking because you have over sized wheels on it and it was never made to do that.

@bevis2268 ай бұрын
Sounds better than mine lol. I paid $300 for my 96 and it's a pile. But it runs even though it sounds like the engine could fly apart at any second. Pretty sure mine needs a crank and the exhaust lobe on the cam and exhaust rocker are extremely worn. I might end up rebuilding it because other than the engine rattling and knocking it's a good solid little machine.

The 300 AC I'm sitting on in the pic has almost 20000 miles. Only thing been done is some wheel bearings and a valve job motor never been apart. Maintenance goes a long way.

I have a 2001 fourtrax 350 es with 23k kms on it and only had to switch front and rear brakes, front right tie rod ends, wheel bearings and some other thing. Other than that it is bone stock and still runs great, sunk multiple times by previous owner hehe

They’re tanks for sure
@buildurtruckurway91182 жыл бұрын
Lol technically they were originally sold as "quad bikes", then just quads and four wheelers, now people call them ATV's and in its definition That's any vehicle that's made for off-road terrain. So calling them a bike I can't say is really wrong, because then a sxs should just be an off-road car if we were technical.

Someone welded the hubs on my fourtrax so when it was time to rebuild the diff I had to get a new axle and hubs and cut the old axle with a saw saw. Why do people do that??
@trashhousecycles Жыл бұрын
The hubs strip out and the generation that bought these fourwheelers originally saw that easier than replacing them. That’s typically the reason
@DrewBetz-qu7jg3 ай бұрын
I also hate when ppl call them bikes the prefix (bi) means 2 (two wheels/tires) meaning something with 4 wheels shouldn’t be called a bike I prefer the term “fo wheela”
